Problems with # 2. I have had Basil for 1 month and 1 weeks. She is 3 months old. If you look up my threads you will see a continuous thread about her condition. It is pretty upsetting and scary. Anyone have any of these issues with their yorkie? please read my previous threads. it will go all into detail since i have been trying to get help for her. |
I'm linking your thread and a couple of your posts to make sure they are seen: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ubles-2-a.html Quote:

Thank you! Heading to the other vet tomorrow for shots and with xrays. The regular stuff to do. 3rd round of distemper and deworming. 1 more to go! Plus going to tell her see I told you she was messed up. It's the SPCA vet, the shots are super cheap their. |
Video Here is a link to the video of Basil trying to go to the bathroom. Maybe seeing her in the process will show what she is going through. Mind you it is kind of a hard video to watch. Please feel free to stop the video if you can't watch it anymore. This also isn't the worse it has been, this is one of the easier moments, but with no progress. :aimeeyork |
Oh poor sweet Basil. This so sad. I hope the Vet's are able to do something for her. Those little whimpers are just so very, very sad. |
That is just terrible...just makes you hurt watching her. Sure hope the vet finds out want is wrong and your little baby gets some help real soon. |
How is your current Vet dealing with the pain? I feel so sorry for any puppy in that much pain. I would be on my way to a Specialist ASAP and would not 'wait and see if he grows out of it". Not after that video. This has been going on a long time. Ask your vet for a referral then please take your baby to a specialist. I am concerned at any dog in this much pain. Sometimes a dog will have a problem that is beyond your general Vet. Has he seen the video?? |
You need to get this dog to a specialist or turn it over to a rescue that will |
Hi. Sorry your baby is having these problems. I just wanted to say that it would be best not to have this surgery at the same time as her spay. There is too great a risk of infection just opening the bowel, and if spaying were to be done too, you'd be providing more places for the infection to rapidly go. Also, these are two major surgeries, recovery would be horrible. Fix the bowel... the spay can wait until she's fully recovered from this and her system is back to normal. She'll then be able to recover quickly from the spay. Does your vet know what caused the pocket to form? |
Poor little angel. In reading a previous post it looks like she has been seen by a specialist??? If not..I strongly suggest you get a second opinion from one. I would not allow anyone to repair that other than a board certified vet surgeon. |
I'm so sorry. :( It's obvious you love your pup so much. Spaying isn't something that needs to be thought about right now. This problem has to be fixed. I'd worry about the spay later... In most states you do not need a referral to see a specialist. You can (and should) just go. If the specialist wants to wait to repair it, they will probably put on on some more drugs to try and keep her comfortable. When she gets diarrhea from the lactulose, is she still in pain? the dose can be adjusted. |
I'm confused. Having read the previous thread, it's unclear what the treatment plan is. Are you hoping she will "outgrow" the condition because finances are an issue for surgery? How much is the surgery? I think if surgery will correct the problem, that is the answer. Has she been seen by a surgeon? Care credit is a wonderful option if you don't have the cash. There are several payment plans that will fit just about anybody's budget. Can you clarify the plan for her treatment? |
Here are a link to two previous puppies that had what sounds to me like the same problem. I remember the first puppy so well. There was a video but it has now been removed. I don't know what ever happened with him. It was very upsetting to watch. :( http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...-included.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...gacolon-2.html |

Poor baby. I could not stand to see my baby like that. I would do whatever it takes to get her out of pain. I have a Care Credit card for my babies. When Pixie had her LP surgery last summer I used it and it allowed me to pay off the 2500.00 in 12 months interest free. Many vets and specialty clinics will take it. You can usually apply and get approval right at the vets office. Have they said how much the surgery will be and what her recovery will be. When my pom had a herniated anus the specialist said it would be about 1000.00 for surgery. I am not sure if it is a similar procedure. Please keep us posted. |

"GULP" Wow. Thank you everyone for all the replies and prayers and thoughts for Basil. To clearify the situation. I have talked to the vet, we will not do the spay at the same time. Yes the lactalouse is adjustable, I go to the vet thursday to get my specialist referal. My faince is co signing for me to get a credit card. Care credit has a 29.9% interest rate. I have looked into SOOOOO many different things. That is why I haven't been on here posting updates. No Basil isn't in pain when she takes the lactalose. Yes that video was specialy taken just for the vet to see. The pocket was caused from excessive feces build up in her large intestine. I am going to take pictures of the X Rays thurday when i bring them back to the vet. They have the proper lighting to let me do that with my camera. You all had so many questions, and everything. i am trying to keep up with all the questions. So if I missed something please let me know again. feel free to private message me. i will deffinitly keep each and everyone of you informed. thank you again for all of your support. Basil is my lil baby and I love that little girl like she was a child. I will reach to the stars to help her. No matter what. |
You could not ask for a better place to ask for support and prayers. Your "Gulp" speaks volumes - I'm sure being a newer member you didn't realize how much the people on this forum love and want to protect yorkies. We are all behind your little Basil and pulling for you both! Keep us posted and we would love to see photos when she is feeling better! |

Is your puppy eating well? When they get hypoglycemic their gums turn white and they act very listless. If your girl is eating well hopefully you won't have to deal with that. I hope the vets can do something for her. |
When my scampi was 14 he developed a pocket right by his hmm how should i say this??? butt hole:rolleyes: He would strain to go to a poo but it would go in to the pocket instead of out the hole so once or twice a day i would put gloves on and put a finger up his butt and hook his poo out i found this much better for him then all the meds to soften his poo. If your dogs pocket is near the butt hole has your vet not suggested you help the dog to go a poo by removing it your self? yes its gross but it works. :D |
The vet has done that, the pocket has shrunk since the last xray. it is near her exit. I came home from work a few minutes ago, and I went to take her out to go the bathroom, and oh man. I am trying not to cry right now, but I have seen enough. It is the worse so far. She literally wouldn't stop screaching and chattering, and a little drop came out. I called the vet and they are putting together all her paper work to send me to the specialist. |
