How about trying a Kong Wobbler to slow their eating? It is a larger Kong with a Kong-shaped hole on the side. Hope your little ones feel better soon.

| You know, symptoms like this can have so many causes. If it were me, I would try to eliminate any possible causes of bacterial infection. Letting them eat off the floor is an obvious one. Also, if a bag of their food lasts a while, humidity could be getting to it, allowing for bacterial growth. If that's the case, a good storage container would help. There was a thread recently where the poster had an issue with bloody poop. I had been through the same thing with mine so told what my circumstances were. I was able to eliminate the problem once I figured out what was going on. While it was happening, I rested my dogs' stomachs and gave them kaopectate. It worked well for the immediate symptoms, but didn't fix the problem until I found the source. Here's the link to the thread.... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...oody-poop.html Everyone's situation is different, so there's no one size fits all answer, but you have already posted about a couple of things that could be the source. Best of luck in getting to the bottom of this.

| I've got no advice about what they could be getting into in your yard except to say to monitor them. I get all kinds of different stuff growing, depending on the season, and have never had one of mine get sick from things outside. But I'm in a different part of the country, so who knows what may be growing in your area. For my floors, I just use pine-sol and bleach in the water. Never had a problem due to that, but mine don't eat off the floor. I just make sure to wash the food bowls daily. It's not to say that your floors are 'dirty', but bacteria doesn't look 'dirty', and there's just no telling what could be on the floor in their eating area and, whatever may be there, they're licking it up. I think it would be easier to clean a couple of bowls rather than to clean the floor at each feeding. There are bowls made to slow an aggressive eater down if that's a problem. Also, if they're eating in the same place, giving each one their own eating area may help with their gobbling up the food, as then they won't be 'competing' for the same food.

| Regarding the food storage container, make sure it is air tight, and in a cool, dry, temperature-controlled place. Use every single kibble in the container before refilling. Ideally, wash out the container when it is empty and make sure that it is completely dry before loading new kibble. Sorry, I don't have any other recommendations for pet-safe cleaners. Some people have invested in some very effective steam cleaners. Bon Bon had a thread not long ago about a popular machine. Check with her. Also, no bacteria-harboring sponges! Possible outdoor/yard triggers -- do other dogs or animals eliminate in your yard? When we were at the height of our drought, Max and Teddy shared a virus of some sort that was like a 24-hour flu. After that, I didn't allow them off of the street pavement on our walks until we had a few good rains. I also don't allow them to walk on the floor at pet stores. Are there poisonous plants in your yard? |

| Everyone removes their shoes before coming into our house, so that may help reduce having anything tracked in. |

| thank you all so much such good advice to help us out. i will do a big check in the yard for weird plants and also pick up their poop everywhere to be safe that we eliminate the bad batches i will have to get a new bowl for each kiddo. we used to bowl feed but it's eaten so fast all at once. sadie even on the floor still had full undigested kibbles when she threw up. which tells me she's not chewing and it's hard to digest whole kibbles. more cleanup and redo is ahead of me. so far sadie hasn't thrown up again so i think hers was a fluke deal after all and bent. seems all better so far. pray and cross fingers that this was just a little bug. |

Several people told me that dogs' teeth are not intended to chew kibble like a human would crackers. They said it didn't matter that he was swallowing the kibble whole. That may be the case, but he does much better on other brands. I know you have gone through the trials and tribulations of switching foods, but this might be something else to consider. On the one hand, trying another kibble to see if it would slow down the eating might be beneficial. On the other hand, it might add another variable that would make solving your problems difficult. As Woogie Man wrote, it is all about eliminating variables to pinpoint the problem. What brands of kibble were your pups eating before you did the raw diet? Did they inhale their kibble then?

| sadie has always been a vaccuum. Bentley used to not hardly eat when we very first got him. sadie was always on a raw diet from puppy hood until this major switch to kibble. Bent came to us on raw and then switched over to acana. we did try orijen and blue buffalo and they equally inhaled it until i started spreading it out on the floor. they could "chase" the kibbles and it took longer to eat, but still don't chew them. i like the bowl and prob. will order one. i might try the cookie sheet thing. i read on another forum about them having to "chase" around the kibbles on a cookie sheet since it's so slick. but this bowl looks awesome and it's dishwasher safe too. only $15.00 wish they had more colors but oh well. i may have to get them. |

| They both pooped solid today!! Sadie never threw up again just that one time and Bentley hasn't been throwing up since Sunday. i've been giving him the pepcid like the vet said and the metronidizol just as a backup in case it was viral/bacterial...they both seem fine and are doing much better. we're really hoping this was a minor bump up in their otherwise great progress since keeping with the same kibble food. thanks for the help and advice. defin. going to get that bowl when we have money again. |

I have two pups who scoff up the food and that bowl has worked wonders! They still ate quickly even with it, but it was definitely slower. What is interesting is that they both are much calmer now (I have been using this bowl for them for a while now and don't eat as fast as they did.
