I've got no advice about what they could be getting into in your yard except to say to monitor them. I get all kinds of different stuff growing, depending on the season, and have never had one of mine get sick from things outside. But I'm in a different part of the country, so who knows what may be growing in your area.

For my floors, I just use pine-sol and bleach in the water. Never had a problem due to that, but mine don't eat off the floor. I just make sure to wash the food bowls daily.

It's not to say that your floors are 'dirty', but bacteria doesn't look 'dirty', and there's just no telling what could be on the floor in their eating area and, whatever may be there, they're licking it up. I think it would be easier to clean a couple of bowls rather than to clean the floor at each feeding. There are bowls made to slow an aggressive eater down if that's a problem. Also, if they're eating in the same place, giving each one their own eating area may help with their gobbling up the food, as then they won't be 'competing' for the same food.
