| Hernia Surgery?! NERVOUS!!! My baby has an appointment next Tuesday to remove her hernia. It just appeard last week and doesn't seem to be causing her any trouble, but the vet said its best to go ahead and take care of it to ensure it doesn't case any issues in the future. We adopted October last year at about this time from a rescue organization. We were told she came from a puppy mill, and had been bred over and over again. At the time we adopted her, her belly had just began to heal up from where the mill had last taken her puppies via c-section. She had also just been spayed by the rescue -- so her belly took an extra long time to heal. I'm guessing, her hernia may have been caused by all those times she had to receive a c-section. It took a long time to heal once we adopted her. The vet took her blood work and did an EKG yesterday to ensure her health and her heart are healthy enough for surgery. She is very healthy, and the vet said she would do fine. Either way -- I am very nervous about her upcoming surgery! But I know it has to be done. Any suggestions to help ease my nerves!!! I'll be a nervous wreck by next week if I keep this up!!! |

| You are wonderful for giving this girl a loving, comfortable home and for taking care of her health. Worrying is natural. Keep yourself busy between now and next Tuesday (I cleaned house from top to bottom when Maximo was neutered ). Wishing your little girl the best and looking forward to reading a positive update Tuesday. |

| First of all, kudos to you for rescuing this little one. You are for sure her Angel. It's never easy to have them go thru any type of procedure but at least you've gotten off to a good start by having pre-op bloodwork done. It sounds as though she will do well. Will keep you and your baby in my thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery.

| Bless her little heart! She's been through so much in her life. I'm really glad she has such a loving home to take care of her and love her as she was meant to be loved. I completely understand your worry. I think we are all that way and usually leave the vets office in tears when we drop them off. I had one that had to have that surgery when she was nine. She did just fine, except for the bandage around her tummy that made her uncomfortable. That was a long time ago now. She recovered very quickly, too. Let us know how she does. We'll be thinking of her and sending prayers her way.

| Just wanted to say she is lucky to have you to take care of her. Best of luck with the upcoming surgery. I hope for a speedy recovery. My Gilmore had luxiating patella surgery Friday so I totally understand your stress. You love them so much I think its just normal to worry. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I will keep October in my prayers for a safe procedure. Bless you for giving her the wonderful life she deserves. Nikki the 16 year old male I took in had all his teeth removed and major gum work done last year and he did great. We were a wreck waiting to hear he was out of surgery so it is normal to worry.

| I love that name October as well. We named him Gilmore because my daughter and I are HUGE Gilmore girls fans. When we were both sick last year we watched all seven seasons over a week. My advice to you is to have what you need for after the surgery prepared now. Gilmore's knee surgery was emergency so I wasn't prepared. Thanks to the wonderful people I have met on this forum I have been able to get things needed to make Gilmore's and my life easier during the long 3 month recovery process. Mom to Hot Rod (BO) has been wonderful in sending me one of her e collars quickly which are fabric rather than the horrible one he is wearing now. I know it will make it so much better because he is miserable in the one he is wearing now. I wish I had one in advance. |

Do you think it would be a good idea to order a collar like you ordered for Gilmore? How would I get in touch with her? I definitely want to be prepared once she comes home! Thank you! | |
