| Is that a hole in the skin at the top of the photo? Was the wound weeping any fluid? Did it smell bad? Like an abcess of sorts? Do you have a lot of rabbits around where you live?

| It wasn't an open wound, just very puffy. Said it is almost callused over but all red now because of her scratching. The reason there is no hair over the area is because they shaved it to prevent more irritation. They decided it was probably just irritated from her tags or could have been a callus there for a long time and going to the groomers last week could have caused a small infection that just spun out of control.

| Oh okay. It just looked similar to a cuterebra, and if the cuterebra is damaged in any way, it can go septic also, and cause anaphylactic shock. Difference is cuterebra don't smell bad like an abcess does, and the itchy and unsettled behavior occurs with it too. Also occurs more often in ares heavily populated with rabbits... and large black flies are carriers.

| you gotta admit, that occurring in areas heavily populated with 'bunnies', is also ironic. Hef would love the correlation...

| Glad to hear it was not something serious and that Maggie is doing better. What we don't do for our furbabies.

| Thank you, everyone! Maggie is acting normal again. She seems to be feeling a lot better. Just taking the meds as prescribed and working through it! I appreciate all the kinds words.
