| Please, I need help with my baby girl:( My puppy visited the groomer's this morning and has been fine all day. Eating, playing...etc. I found her with a hairball that my cat threw up...I know disgusting! I don't know how much she ate. Then she (my pup) threw up. Now she is acting very lethargic and sickly. She was standing up in the kitchen and almost fell over like she was going to sleep. I gave her some nutrical just in case but her gums are super-pink. When I was holding her, her head seemed to not really 'bob' but sort of was doing that. It has stopped but she is very sleepy and looks like she feels terrible. She has only vomited once and has had no diarrhea. My question is could this just be from the hairball/vomit eating or should I be more worried. We have had her for one month. She is 7 months old and has had no problems so far. I am scared to death. Btw, there are no emergency vets anywhere where I live. Oh, one other thing...she and my little boy pup have been eating wallpaper off the walls but the last time was a few days ago I know...I have no idea why. Could this be the reason she is sick? Please help with any suggestions.

| I would call your Veterinarian ASAP especially with the ingesting of wallpaper. There's no telling what could be in the adhesive compound used on the backing that could be dangerous to your baby! Even if your Veterinarian's office hours are closed, there should be a recording as who to contact in an emergency. If you have to travel a distance to reach their emergency veterinarian clinic...you should do it! Please keep us updated on your little one...

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Can you call the groomer and ask if they gave any antihistamines? Many groomers do this to calm the dogs down, and especially those that use drying cages. They should always tell the client, but the don't. This could make her act sleepy. She may also have been given a treat that caused an upset tummy, many groomers think all dogs are alike and yorkies have very sensitive digestive systems. The gums are pink and that's a good sign, and only one vomiting shouldn't be a problem. My guess is she ate some of the hairball and it didn't suit her digestive system any more than it suited the cats. Wallpaper has paste that is made of starch, and some dogs will eat it, I'd repair the paper so they can't get any more, or keep them out of the room. The first year or so, they will eat nearly everything.

| Molly has thrown up two more times but now she seems to be acting herself again...barking, and following me around. But my 6 month old Jax just vomited! What the heck did they get into I know he didn't eat any kitty cat hairball!

| Did both of them go to the groomer today? Maybe they got into something there? At the puppy stage they could get into anything. I always say they are like babies. Everything goes in their mouth! Keep us updated and let us know what you find out.

| Just wanted to say if you ever find yourself needing an ER, the one in Denton is GREAT!! We moved here from Gainesville in June and found ourselves there with our Lulu soon after we moved. I know it's about an hour from you but so worth the drive! Hope your baby is ok!!

| So this morning they are both themselves again! They both ate some boiled chicken last night and slept all night without getting sick. They both had breakfast this morning, have pottied and are very playful. Geez! I was worried sick! Not so much about Jax...he just vomited and went on about his business But Molly was acting very strange. I have only had her one month so I guess I don't know how she usually reacts to an upset tummy. Thanks everyone for your advice and helpful words and prayers I love YT! BTW, Jax did not visit the groomer yesterday so I know they were both eating something they shouldn't which is nothing new with these two! They eat EVERYTHING they see! And then, pick at their food Thanks also for the advice about the animal ER in Denton. It is only about an hour away so in desperate times that is where I could go. My vet is super-nice and he always says call anytime but I just hate to be overprotective and paranoid! Let's hope my two babies are on the road to recovery. Unfortunately, my husband is babysitting right now since I have to work a 24 hour shift in the ER myself.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm glad they are feeling a little better, I just wanted to tell you that many of our members with cats. say that their Yorkies love to eat the cat's poop, it's a real delicacy, but it does make them sick. Some members say they've had to put the litter box in a high place where the cat can get to, but where the yorkies can't reach, you might want to investigate this possibility. Best of luck!

| Thanks for that last post....you know that is a possibility because to be honest I couldn't tell if what she was chewing on was a hairball or a little kitty poop They did sneak upstairs yesterday where the cat box and cat food and cat were and after that is when Molly became immediately sick. And you know if sweet little Molly got into it, then wildman Jax did too I bet that is what happened! Eeeewww... cat poop is a delicacy for them....Yuck!

| Oh, I would put the cat food and litter box where only the cat can get to it! My groomer puts hers up high where the cat can go and the dogs cannot. Glad to hear they are better.
