Ask about the plasma as that does wonders in some situations. Hang in there once she gets back on track the liver will repair. What is going on with the kidneys are they ok?

what are they feeding her? Maybe you could cook up some cod as it is highly digestible and try to feed her that as she needs low protein right now with liver being off so what they are trying to feed is important.

If you do the cod then add some of the zucchini juice i told you about as zucchini cleanses the liver - just juice it and put pulp in with the cod. and pour a little juice over it and see if she can keep this down. Make sure organic

My friend did it with her bull mastiffs that had toxic plant poison and were on iv fluids and the levels dropped rapidly. She did the zucchini juicing and milk thistle

do you have a food processor? If so use that and mix in the cod and see if she can keep that down. I do not believe they sell zucchini juice. It is something you have to make

I remain confused about this thing with Doxycycline. I have used that antibiotic many times and never had an issue. Now, I am NOT saying that there are no side effects with it....just am not sure about this link with the lepto vaccine reaction. I have looked for this information and found that Doxycycline is actually used for Lepto so I am SO confused.

I really would like more information if anyone has any.

As for blaming the vet, I highly doubt that is going to go anywhere; but I don't know. If the vet does really believe another vet was wrong to give Doxycycline, then perhaps that would work.

I would definitely look into Care Credit. Often the interest rate is zero...or at least very low. Depends upon the vet you use and whether they accept Care Credit or not....and if they do, what their terms are.

You also could let your vet know your circumstances and perhaps they can do a telephone consult with a specialist rather than you going there because, yes, they are costly.

Oh no, I misread dates and just saw this update. I am so sorry. Praying for Daisy and you.

I think she is in the ER which is expensive too :( But I do know in our area all the vets are part owner in the ER so they get a cut as it is an LLC. She could find out if that is the case in her area and then maybe her vet can help with cost if the med should not have been given. Her dog is 21lbs and they gave the highest dose of antibiotic to treat the lyme disease. I do not know alot about this drug as never used it and do not know alot about lyme disease but did see it is used for lyme on many websites. I just do not understand why the highest dose why not the middle or low end of dose.

Daisy already has health issues so any med can go wrong when a dog is not real healthy to begin with as did with mine. She has a sensitive stomach and antibiotics can make them sick to their tummy as well.

I will keep searching too - just feel so bad for her :(

I just saw where tylan powder affects liver enzymes so figured this would too since an antibiotic as well.

I just wish she was home already :(

It could just be she had a reaction to lepto so she is susceptible to reactions to other things like stronger meds who knows :(

She is in the emergency but the vets are part owners. Bolton veterinary hospital has many vets and they do have to call in an ultrasound specialist if her lvls went up.
Daisy has had stomach issues ever since I got her at 10 weeks. Daisy has had many health issues.
The first two years of her life in and out of the hospital almost dieing 2 times. I home cooked a special diet bc she could not handle dog food.

Sadly Daisy was bought by my daughter at a pet store bf we even knew about puppy mills. When I researched where she came from I found out that she was a puppy mill dog.

When we first got her she would not even let you pet her she would scower and hide. I worked with her and gained her trust. She is such a sweet dog and very loving now.

As for the doxycycline they already wrote across her files NO DOYCYCLINE!!
The vet said after view Daisy's history she realized that she should not of been given this drug especially bc she had a bad reaction to the lepto vaccination. Also daisy was given the Max for her size and now I am really upset to find out it is not FDA approved for dogs!!! OMG!!

I am praying that her lvls didn't go back up bc that could mean something more serious.

yeah the other drug not approved is ivermectin but it is used for demodex so there are some drugs not approved but just have to be given with caution off label. Atopica is being used off label for ibd dogs as well. Sometimes it works and sometimes it can be a problem sadly :( I think the reason it is not fda is because the company did not want to pay for clinical trials for that specific reason like with atopica as I called Novartis about this with the ibd thing and they said they cannot approve its use for ibd as they never did the trials for it to get it approved yet some vets are using for this off label.

My poor husband is having the worst fathers Day. Daisy is a Daddys girl most of the time except when she is sick she stays close to me.

She goes everywhere with my husband that is his little buddy. She even sits in the recliner with him at night.

We are both so upset over this and have to attend a family pic nic feeling this way:(
