I hope Daisy is doing better today, please post when you can. |
Joyce, Daisy and you are in my thoughts. I'm hoping you will have good news and that you will be able to bring your Daisy girl home today. {{{{HUGS}}}} |
Oh Joyce :(! I got your message on my profile page...you mentioned Cushings there...has the Vet ruled that out now? Let me know if you are still needing Cushings info, and what you would most need first, as there is so much info...and I don't want to overwhelm you; I just want to provide what you would need at this point. Sending hugs and good thoughts to Daisy and you! |
Thinking of you and Daisy and praying for good news! |
Geeze Joyce, I'm just reading this now . . .sorry to hear about Daisy . . .I hope she gets well soon! My thoughts are with you . . . |
update!! we called the vet this morning and she said that Daisy is on milk thistle and fluids. She kept her food down last night and and she ate really well this morning and kept that down too. She said that when she examined Daisy she did not act like she was in pain anymore. She also said that Daisy was alert and acting like she was feeling better:D She wants me to call this afternoon bc they are going to test her lvls again and if they start to go down then that will rule out cancer. If they continue to drop she can home on Sunday!!! Please pray that her lvls drop, I want my her home, I miss her so much. |
That's good news. Praying her levels come down and Daisy can come home soon. |

Sounds like she had either over dose of that drug or an allergic reaction to the drug. They can get accumulated allergic reactions after being on a antibiotic for a period of time. DD got hives after 17 days on simplicef so she cannot get this antibiotic again or any in the family. The immediate reaction to a drug is when they go into anaphylactic shock. The fact that she was warm to the touch and in pain I would be thinking one of those two or both occurred. I am glad they are using milk thistle as that and juiced zucchini brought my friends bull mastiffs liver values down quickly after her two got into a toxic plant. What are they saying caused this? I really doubt it is cancer I hope she can come home today |
Sending prayers...and hoping she can be healthy and home with you soon. |
That sounds real good. I hope she is back with you tomorrow and gets better. Eagleswings |
just wanted to share something dh came home last night and told me about his friend's wife who is 70 and has MS. She was a flight attendant all her life and now they were retired and looking forward to retirement and she got MS :( She is on a certain med that comes in viral and bacterial form. Well they switched from one pharmacy longs to CVS pharmacy as CVS bought out Longs. Well they did not mark the computer that she was allergic to either the viral or the bacterial so pharmacist gave her the wrong drug and she almost died. Her whole body was on fire (like you described Daisy being hot to touch) and her tongue was swollen, face, etc and she had to be rushed to emergency and almost died. Now had they said - we want to make sure this is viral or bacterial meds this may not have happened but they TRUSTED the computer was accurate and pharmacist knew she was allergic to that one medication. This is why i say ASK QUESTIONS - do not assume. I wanted to share this as Daisy was hot which after dh told me this last night led me to beleive maybe she had an allergic reaction and you caught it early. Also, all meds are processed through the liver so any med you give can affect the liver and why liver shunt and mvd dogs you have to be super careful with any meds you give. If you watch on tv it always says disclaimers not for people with liver disease when doing medication announcements Please be careful and double and triple check meds before giving to yourself or your pets. You may not have a choice sometimes but sometimes you do. |
In praying that Daisy is getting better hour by hour today and will be home with you soon. Such a scare. Sending hugs to you too as you wait it out. |
This is great news on Daisy! I'm glad they are giving her the milk thistle to protect her liver. I'm staying guarded until you've got her home and we are praying for her and checking for updates. |
Hoping and praying for Daisy's levels to improve, and for a quick and total recovery... |

ALT 1300 ALP1500 The vet said that she was looking over all Daisy's medical records and came across where When Daisy had a bad reaction to the leptospirosis vaccination and thought that maybe the Doxycycline gave Daisy this reaction. She said that Daisy probably should of not go on this knowing her sensitivity. OMG!!! She said that she wrote across Daisy File already NO DOXYCYCLINE!!!! This I found very interesting. She said that she wasn't ruling out cancer but the fact that all her symptoms have improved since the fluids and milk thistle is a good sign. My husband asked her if she thought that it was necessary to have Daisy on 100mg when she only weighs 21 lbs considering that is the max for her size. She replied that she has NEVER had a dog react this way and it is a very rare case but considering all Daisy's past history probably should of not been put on this.. So basically it could of killed Daisy............I am so UPSET!!! Shouldn't they have viewed her history BEFORE prescribing? Well we are at now is if Daisy's lvls continue to drop then tomorrow afternoon she can come home. Please pray for her lvls to continue to drop. I want her home we miss her so much it is so quiet with out her barking;) I think I will NEVER complain about her barking again:rolleyes: |
