Joyce, just seeing. I am so sorry. Sending big hugs to you and Daisy. I hope they can figure out what is going on with her. I agree with some of the others, can you go and stay with her a couple of times of day? Or bring her home at night? It sounds as those the stress of being away from you, hubby and Pixie are not helping in her treatment/recovery. :( |

Yep. My first thought is always Cushings. I have a pup with pseudo cushings...the one thing that was different between pseudo cushings and cushings was the fact that is ALP was wnl. But, as that link says, there are other things. |

awww im so sorry about your baby. ive taken doxycycline before and it made me very nauseous if i didnt take it with a meal. and she is sooo tiny. maybe if you have to give her that again try feeding her first. =( |

I noticed about 1 month ago Daisy's belly was getting black and when she was in for her physical I mentioned it to the doctor and he said that it is probably just her age? If you saw Daisy's belly it is black!!! |

Hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's Syndrome) in Dogs usually you see hairloss though with these dogs - have you seen that? Also they have pot bellies due to cortisol production and have no allergy issues as their bodies are producing more cortisol. They have increased water consumption. Many of the symptoms are what you have to watch out for when you have a dog on steroids as they have similar side effects from steroids as they do with a cushings dog. Also they have brown spots called cumidomes on the skin when dd was on prednisone she had all of the above and why we had to put her on prednisolone as she had too many side effects like a cushings dog and she does not have the same on prednisolone. Ann knows alot about cushings so pm her and she can help more with this and if ALP was an issue with her dog that has cushings. |
here is the link where ann was helping someone with cushings testing you could do the urine test to rule it out http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...diamond-2.html The urine cortisol-creatinine-ratio test isn't cheap, but it's usually where they start when Cushings is suspected bc it's the cheapest way to rule it out. I believe it's btwn $80-100. Whereas the ACTH Stim can be $200-400, easy. |
Other symptoms (common ones) are excessive thirst and urination...and excessive appetite. They will eat anything!! |
