| ![]() This morning, again, I wake up to find he's completely normal. Spunky as all get out. Maybe at night after all day he finally feels the pain? I'm not sure. But we have an appointment first thing Monday morning to find out what's going on. Thank you for all your help! |

| ![]() He is way too little or young to be allowed to climb and jump off of anything. These does are climbers and seem to have no fear. Many vets advise to never let them jump off of anything because they can injure themselves so easily. They are not cats, so will not land on their feet. Zeke is two and we still have to keep a tight hold of him and try to keep him from climbing too high. |

When he climbs up to "sit on my shoulder," I'm usually sitting down on a couch where he's also sitting on the back of the couch. That day was the first time he climbed up me to sit up there with me standing up. I didn't know how to react, especially, when he was trying to jump off. | |

| ![]() I am glad you have an appointment for Monday morning, I think its best to have him looked at. You know my Sophie Kate used to do the same thing she would climb up me and sit on my shoulder like a parrot (very strange). I had to limit that to when I was sitting down because I was afraid of the same thing that happened to your baby. Someone suggested you limit his activities and keep him in his crate today, I think that is a good idea - keep him calm. Keep us posted on what you find out, I know how horrible you must feel seeing him in pain.

I am not judging you and I don't want people coming on YT for help and getting ripped to shreads, but I stongly advise that maybe you don't allow him to sit up there anymore. Not so safe. Just my opinion.

| ![]() Yorkies are fearless little creatures and you have to keep an eye on them bc they will jump from anywhere!! When I see Pixie get some place that is too high I tell her get down and if she doesn't do it I walk over and put her on the floor and say down. Pixie is 10 months now and knows the word down. She has scared the life out of me before jumping off the kitchen table, she use to like to climb up on the chair and onto the table. The first time I saw her jump down I decided to teach her down. They are never too young to teach them that, it could save them bad knees as well. I hope your little one checks out ok!!

| ![]() Sorry to hear about the accident and hope and pray your little one will be okay. I agree with others...to keep him quiet and crated until you have seen the vet. If it is a back injury, it can worsen from activity. Best wishes to you and welcome to YT.

| ![]() Yorkies are very fragile. They are not like other dogs. I discourage mine from jumping on the couch or the bed. One fall can be Fatal. |

| ![]() I'm not sure there is a breed more disposed to broken legs, especially as puppies, than Italian Greyhounds. Generally puppy owners are advised to NEVER let your puppies jump from anything they can't jump on. For instance, if your puppy can't jump onto the sofa, your puppy shouldn't jump off the sofa. Letting them climb up to anything is very dangerous and your puppy can be trained to not climb. I think I would have taken the puppy to the emergency vet, but I always prefer safe to sorry and piece of mind knowing one way or the other if my baby is okay is priceless.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() Rhett is as fearless as he is fast. I try to not let him up on things, but darned if he doesn't find a way to outwit me every once in a while. I'm willing to bet that everyone's dog has done something that made their heart stop for a moment or two, no matter how vigilant we are about watching them. To the OP, I hope your little one checks out well at the vets. Neck/head injuries are always scary. |

| ![]() welcome to YT. I hope you'll be back on Monday to give us all an update on what the vet said after the exam. I hope no permanent damage is done. go look at the thread "I'm worried about Layla" see what that owner has been going through with her dog's spinal injury. These dogs are fearless but fragile. I hope you and your dog are more careful going forward. ![]() |
