Help!Oscar can't pee after bladder stone surgery

ER vet. Right now. Either another stone was present and shifted or his urethra is swollen. In either case, waiting will cause him increased pain and risk infection.

I am also concerned about metacam use in a dog with liver repair nsaids are not suppose to be used in dogs with liver issues

i skimmed the end of that thread just now to see that he had the LS, cysto, and castration done but didn't read the rest of it cause its so long.

honestly i'm not concerned about the metacam. Morgan has MVD and i give it to her without problems and i know plenty of other dogs that have used metacam as well.

I wondered about this too.
Not sure how many specialists use it for LS or MVD, but I know it is not recommended. Ellie's vet wouldn't use it for Ellie either and at the time her bile acids had just come down to 15 (after being at 47). But it's just one of the those things. When you're in a spot, you just have to trust that the speicalist knows what they are doing...

i can only go by my experience with metacam and it was BAD and jean dodds is against nsaids in dogs with liver issues as is IMS, orthopedic and board certified dentist so have to go by that after what i went through

yeah this is why i wanted tobias and centers involved to help consult with this pup since she was unable to get to UT as it was an emergency situation I am nervous about this little one

I know sometimes they can miss stones as my grandma had her gall bladder out and they missed stones and triggered pancreatitis in her

This is why i wanted bats done and not worry so much about cysto as that delayed this diagnose a few crucial days that op may have been able to get this dog to tobias for surgery so that delay caused this situation to turn into an emergency with the stones thus having a place do the surgery other than tobias sorry just had to vent as i am really worried about this little one and owner as she has tried to do everything she was instructed to do

I was on my way to ER and Oscar started to dribble pee. I pulled over and he continued to dribble. it produced a normal sized puddle, just took a while. I did not take him to the ER. I am praying that it is just because his bladder is swollen.

i really think you should have him seen at least so they can check him out and his temperature etc. I am a little worried as he had alot done for his little body. Isn't the specialty hospital that did this open 24/7?

That's great that he finally urinated! were you able to tell if the urine was highly concentrated? the bladder is definitely swollen and his urethra is probably swollen too because of the catheters that were passed through it many times. How is he acting otherwise? Is he eating and drinking normally?

Kellie shouldn't it be real clear since coming off iv fluids? Just so she knows what to look for is why i am asking. I know with dex when he came off iv fluids he did not drink much water either for a few days afterwards as i was concerned and they said not to worry due to having so much fluid from iv fluids

ok that make sense so if dark yellow is that going to be a problem and if any blood in it should she get him in? Just trying to think of questions for her to look out for

Do you think he should still be looked at Kellie?
