| advice First i wanted to say hello again to everyone! I haven't been on in quite a while. To sum it up I moved out on my own and have just gotten Haylee my little girl back to live with me from my mom. Quick question though. I got her back, my mom was letting my brother use a slicker brush on her, while at the house, and i noticed her skin is wheeping? I know shes very uncomfortable because it seems like the brush did some damage to the skin on her back. the spot that is damaged is about 3 inches wide and 4 inches long. I was wondering if there is any type of ointment i can put on her to help it heal or take some of her pain away? If anything im thinkin i may need to bring her into the vet, but it doesn't look THAT serious. but you never know. Any advice would help.

| hmmm, are you certain that it is from the slicker brush? I maybe try a little neosporin (sp) on the area. If you think it might be from something else, I would definitely take her to the vet. Maybe you can call the vet and describe it and they can advise you. Good luck with your little one.

| I was thinking maybe it was from another cause, but after talking to my mom she said it just showed up after he had brushed her. I'm thinking he pushed way to hard with it, since her hair is cut short. =[ She isn't whining or anything, but she just seems uncomfortable. I'm going to go grab some neosporin after work and put that on there. Hopefully it will help it heal a little faster. I hate seeing her uncomfortable=[

I would suggest that you take her in to the vet so he can prescribe something to make her comfortable.

| I wouldn't put anything on it. Just bath her. The clear fluid that comes out will actually act as a bandaid. If at anytime it looks like it is getting some infection, then you can put some Bacitracin Ointment on it for a couple of days, then wash and let air dry. (Bacitracin draws out infection). Tell your brother that slickers are used only to get a mat from the fur, not for brushing.

It's what I use on my girls just before whelping and when any of my dogs have anytype of a wound. The Vinegar Rinise is a natural antibacterial....The Panalog (sold under different brand names) is a strong topical antibiotic.....I've used it on myself on open cuts and once on a allergic rash....both cleared up within 24 hours.... Your main concern is to keep her from irritating herself further, with the possibility of creating a staph infection.
