| No doubt a stupid question...but, what does BAT stand for? My Zoey was sick from causes unknown and had all kinds of bloodwork done. I see nothing labeled BAT???

Her liver enzymes were up a bit, so the vet put her on 2 different antibiotics to see if that fixes things. She's feeling great and completely back to her usual self, so we're hoping that her liver was just unhappy about some kind of toxin or the freaking 2 doses of Metacam () she got before the bloodwork. He regrets giving her that stuff and only chose it because he couldn't come up with a small enough dose of his preferred pain med. (She weighs 4 lb. 2 oz.) Anyway, as soon as he saw the bloodwork he dropped the Metacam and went straight to antibiotics. He'll test her liver enzymes again when she's through with the 10 days of meds. She hasn't shown any symptoms of shunt whatsoever, but, needless to say, I'm worried.

Thank you SO much for the advise. I'll talk to him about the BATs when we go back for more bloodwork. It's good to be fortified with knowledge when making important decisions. My husband and I are totally in love with this little pooch, but financially, ummm.....not so good. Thinking about vet bills in our past that we could afford then, and absolutely could not now, I bought a PetPlan policy last April. Thank heaven. Now, we'll see how well they really cover Zoey. We're sure not thrilled with our human insurance company.
