Her liver enzymes were up a bit, so the vet put her on 2 different antibiotics to see if that fixes things. He regrets giving her that stuff and only chose it because he couldn't come up with a small enough dose of his preferred pain med. (She weighs 4 lb. 2 oz.) Anyway, as soon as he saw the bloodwork he dropped the Metacam and went straight to antibiotics.
He'll test her liver enzymes again when she's through with the 10 days of meds. She hasn't shown any symptoms of shunt whatsoever, but, needless to say, I'm worried. |
yeah i hate nsaids one dose of metacam jacked up my dd but she is on steroids and the vet gave it to her anyway on an empty stomach on top of it - we no longer will ever go to this vet. Your vet should have been able to give tramadol for pain
and yes nsaids will affect the liver and kidneys very strongly so probably what happened but once all is calmed down i would still do bats just to be safe
