Cry I'm pretty upset right now........could use some help!

So i'm supposed to be getting my puppy Armani on Friday(he's 4 months old) and the breeder JUST told me he only has on testicle. And so I looked that up online and it was saying that dogs with one testicle have to have surgery to remove it because they can turn cancerous and that it's a genetic defect and can also cause other health problems like hernia's and so on...I'm SO upset because I just wanted a healthy puppy THATS ALL! I bought a puppy from her 3 years ago and he passed away shortly after and he was sick the day i got him so this is my "replacement puppy" I waited 3 years to get a new puppy because it hurt so bad to loose my Kurbee and I feel like it's going to happen all over again! Does anyone have a dog with this issue or know anything about it? I might just be overreacting but I don't want to go threw any of this again!

Unless you were go to breed it is not a big deal..or unless you didn't plan to neuter the little fella as a pet...then it is a big deal and could cause health issues way down the road. Talk to your vet about a good time to neuter (most of us do it when they have their adult teeth in so if any baby teeth are still in their mouth they can be pulled when the vet does the neuter (around 6 months). Some vets charge a little more but relax everything should be fine.

he still has time before the nueter for his testicle to descend. if it doesn't, it will cost a little more to remove it in the nueter, but he will be fine

It depends on where the testicle is located. Sometimes they end up in the abdomen, and it may result costing as much as a spay. I got lucky with my cat, his was just under the skin on his inner thigh.

Plus, the breeder should reduce the price, or pay for the additional surgery required to neuter him. IMHO

It sounds like everyone has given you great advice. I get my boy in a couple of weeks. I never thought to ask if "every little thing" was in order! But even if it isn't and I face a situation like yours, I still want him! The neuter may cost a little more like someone said previously, but it should be ok. Best wishes with your little one! Don't give up, "every little thing" may turn out just fine!

if you got a puppy from the same breeder and it was sick when you got him, maybe these people aren't very responsible breeders. Breeders are suppose to provide healthy dogs that should come from healthy genes. Dogs from reputable breeders aren't meant to last 3-5 years, they're meant to last a dog's whole natural lifespan 12-15 years at least. If you don't want to be disappointed again (whether or not your new puppy has one testicle) - maybe it would be best to purchase a puppy from a reliable breeder who respects the standards and protocols of Dog breeding. I just dont want you to suffer heartbreak in case this new dog isn't as healthy as Kurbee was and won't last. It just isn't fair to either of you.

Hello, May I ask what happend to the previous pup? Just wondering if it was a genetic problem or just a fluke. I know how painful it is to lose a pet and it would be heart breaking to go through it again if our breeder is negligent.

Thanks everyone! Just the thought freaked me out i guess....
I got Kurbee 3 years ago and quickly noticed he was sneezing and coughing. I took him to my vet the next day and my vet put kurbee on ear drops for an infection, meds for kennel cough mild hip problems and the list goes on...Kurbee would not eat so on top of all the meds I had to give him I was also giving him Nutri-cal and putting sugar in his water to make sure his blood sugar didn't get too low. I was CONSTANTLY at my vets office because even with all the meds Kurbee still was not getting any better...So a week or so later I woke up and didn't hear him so I looked into his bed and he had thrown up and had passed away. I don't know what to think about the breeder honestly...I've done my homework on her & haven't found much of anything! The only thing I noticed was that a few of her yorkies were APRI & UABR registered and my cat was as well and i believe that those are registries for "commercial breeders" AKA puppy mills.(my cat was APRI registered and was sold at an auction i later found out & i got him at petland) I even requested the last 3 inspections of her kennel and NOTHING! So I don't know....maybe i'm just really nervous & maybe i'm freaking myself out..He will be here Friday so I guess we will see then?

When I first got my baby I was freaked out too because I wasn't told that he had only one testical, it took until his first birthday, but the other one finally dropped!!! lol Either way as everyone has said if you plan to get him neutered it will all turn out fine. I 100% see why you would upset though, I felt the same at first- then I realized that it isn't quite so bad. In the end everything turned out well. Best wishes!

You might it give him a couple of more months. When I got Buster he only had one testicle. By the time I got him neutered at 6 months the other testicle had descended. The vet did tell me if the one did not drop by the time he was neutered that it would cost more money. I did not ask how much more.

OMG you had a horrible experience. I really hope your next puppy is a healthy one. I would not be to concerned with the testicle issue as it's pretty common. You both will be in our prayers for many years of health, happiness and a billion tail wags!

Sorry for the loss of your first puppy and sorry your second one
already has problems. The testicle is really not a big problem
but I certainly would be worried about other genitic problems
that may show up later. Dosen't sound like a very dedicated
breeder.
My grandpup, Harley as a pup had the testie surgery when he was
a pup. He also only had one testie. He was purchased from a pet
store. This happens and the correction surgery fixes it.
Will the breeder pay for the surgery?

This breeder sounds like she's playing you. If this is a "replacement" puppy for the last one, she knows that the neutering surgery will be more expensive than it normally would. I think I'd prefer a refund, and look elsewhere.

Well I picked Armani up from the airport Friday and he is absolutely PERFECT! No kennel cough he's eating just like he should be....so everything is going great so far! I have not taken him to the vet yet but will next week to see what my vet thinks and how much having him neutered will cost. Armani is such a doll He is pretty spoiled too if you ask me...but I think he may have some separation issues. I put him in his kennel once to shower i just didn't want him running around and the whole time he barked his head off....if i'm on the computer and i'm not holding him he will come up to me and bark at me until i pick him up and if he thinks no one is home or if he can't see anyone he will start to whine and bark until he finds someone! So i'm not sure how to correct that because as much as i would love to take him everywhere with me sometimes i just can't so when i do have to leave him I want him to feel safe in his kennel and not cry the whole time i am gone & thanks again everyone for your kind words! I was definitely freaking out! But for now things are good & i'm really enjoying my little fur baby
