| ![]() Oh no! I'm so sorry. Thank goodness you kept taking him in until they found what's causing this. I will keep both of you in my prayers, and I'll check here for updates on the biopsy tomorrow. Give the little guy hugs from us!

| ![]() It's always hard to learn that there is something wrong, but at least now the mending can begin. It sounds as though there is a good chance that they will be able to help Ted and that he will be okay. We'll definitely keep the prayers and good thoughts going for you and Ted. Hugs to you. And keep in mind, while you are wide awake at night, a lot of us are here on YT! Hugs to you and Ted.

| ![]() Thanks guys. Have you ever had the belt on your vacuum cleaner break in the middle of vacuuming? That's the noise he makes 24/7 followed by the sound of an oxygen tank after the long whiney noise. |

| ![]() That's really tough to hear. I was hoping it was something they could suction out. At least you know a little more. We'll be saying some special prayers for you and Ted that it will be over soon and he'll be on the road to recovery. I think it's wonderful that you love him the way you do. Otherwise, you would not have known what was really wrong. You're a good mommy and kept after it until you found out what was going on with him.

| ![]() Thanx, everyone. Surgeon just called with biopsy results. He said he's 99 percent sure it's A FRIGGIN PIECE OF CARROT. He said, "It's a very rare case." So the $7,000 carrot caper will come to an end Monday with surgery. He said he will go through the mouth, cut the soft palate and retrieve it that way as now it is surrounded by soft tissue. If that doesn't work, he will have to go in through the top of the nose. I always dreamed one day i'd get a big old expensive karat...just never imagined it would be orange and stuck up my poor dog's nose. Ted is okay. Still miserably breathing but eating and hanging in there until Monday. I thank each of you for helping us get through this. An entire month of mentioning the choking of the carrot and no one would listen whilst poor Ted endured unnecessary medication, poking, prodding, and two sedations. I will be back when I hear from surgeon on Monday that he is safe and sound. They are taking him in Sunday evening to spend the night for early surgery. Thanx so much. Wee Ted will be happily sniffing again. So much for healthy treats. luv corrinne |

| ![]() Again, we can NEVER under estimate the power of our own intuition. Not to say that intuition makes for expertise but it sure has some teeth to it. I am so sorry it has taken all of this to find out but at least you have found out and something can actually be done to help poor Ted. Our thoughts and prayers remain with you both! Huggs

| ![]() Wow, who knew a carrot could cause all these problems? I know you're upset that the doctors didn't listen to you, but it's great that the biopsy came back clean. What happened with the carrot exactly? I feed them to my guys occasionally and now you have me concerned.

| ![]() A mama knows; right. I mean there was no sneezing, no nasal drip...nothing that resembled allergies. I guess they had to start somewhere. The noise progressed over time and even then they simply prescribed heavier amount of steriod and added anti-biotics. I wish you all could hear this sound. It does not sound like any kind of allergy i ever heard. I will be writing the vets a letter so next time they will take a choking incident previous to such a condition seriously on the off chance something did get inhaled in the process. |

| ![]() No doc here or anything but I wonder if the reverse sneeze thing could have aided in this mishap (kind of a poor name for all that you have been thru dear Ted but didn't know what else to call it). ![]()

| ![]() I had given Ted a piece of a baby raw carrot as I always do. He chewed it into tiny pieces as he does, and those were on the floor when I heard him choke, I picked him up, stuck my finger in his mouth and swooped out a piece of carrot, and the episode was over. I'm assuming that when he choked he inhaled some of the other little pieces that he had chewed up in his mouth and it must have lodged back there and then the tissue has wrapped around it and inflammed. I will be paranoid to give him anything. I believe it could have happened whether it was a carrot or a doggie milkbone. You know how they much it up into little pieces. He just happened to choke this time. I never ever thought that when they choke there could still be something that went in. But come to think of it i have many a times had drink or food go down wrong whole and it starts coming out your nose. know what I'm trying to say? It just got stuck and didn't travel down throat or up nasal completely. |
