I can't believe this "so-called" breeder. Please pm me with her name, kennel name, phone number, and location. She/he needs to be exposed. I live in NV and if she's close enough I would love to visit there to see the conditions that she's breeding in. Good Luck Jinxiee - I know you love your little girl and weren't prepared for the illness that your baby was born with. I hope you can get her some help today.

I think if she gave us the name and info on this breeder, maybe we could all work collectively to expose her......maybe shaming her to give back the money that was paid for Melody and making it possible to get her much needed surgery.......Just another angle.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I just saw the pictures you posted of your babies and they are adorable. Melody deserves a chance for a normal life and please, please find a way to help her tonight. I know it would be so so hard to give her up but then you have to find a way to get her the help now. Any family or friends that can help, get her on the medicines mentioned above and contact the breeder tonight and inform them of the Lemon Law and be insistent that they cover the expenses to help Melody. If you cannot do any of the above, please turn her over to a rescue because you will lose her any way if you don't. Please keep us posted as we are all very concerned for her and you.

| Everyone has been very helpful in giving the advice you need. I know its so hard to give them up, but if you cant afford it there's really no other options. I also saw the picture of your baby and she is BEAUTIFUL!!! please help her have a chance by letting a rescue/vet take over. Please come back and update us on her. we are all Yorkie lovers and are very worried about her. as for the lemon law I not sure what you can do sense you already accept the second pup. but I would also like the others said bring it up to the breeder. keeping your little one in my prayers. |

| I am so sorry that you are going through this with your baby. She is a doll. Coming here shows that you do care for her, I know it must be very hard to think of turning her over to strangers. I have been there and felt that very way. My Gizmo had a Liver Shunt and suffered for a very long time before I realized what was going on and took him to the University of Tennessee for help. I lost my Gizmo after complications from the Liver Shunt Surgery, but it didn't have to end that way. Gizmo's Liver was very badly damaged at the time of surgery, and I was told if he had the surgery eariler in life there was a better chance of survival. I watched two little girls under a year old come in for their Liver Shunt Surgery and leave after only two days with a prognosis of a full recovery. Your baby does have a chance at a normal happy life! Its all up to you right now wheather you will give it to her or not.... Please contact a rescue. These are wonderful people who only want the best for these babies. If you love her, give her this chance before it is too late. It will be the best gift that you could ever give her.

| I see you are offline.... I hope you were able to get the meds and start your baby on them.... after skimming through some of the posts here I need to give some more info: Liver damage can be reversed to some extent with proper medication and feeding. The liver can regenerate and the medications support this regeneration. After you give her the Lactulose, you may see marked improvement within 24-48 hours if not some immediate improvement. And I neglected to tell you to get some antibiotics for her. Mine has to take Amoxicillin every so often, depending on Bloodwork results. This is what happens: All puppies have a liver shunt. The shunt carries dirty blood past the pups liver to the mom before they are born and the mom's liver does the job of cleaning it. Normally this shunt will close up after birth and the pup will maintain normal liver function. In a Liver shunt pup, it does not close and the some of the dirty blood is taken to the heart or the brain and released back into the circulatory system. The pup becomes toxic after a while depending on the severity of the shunting. When you feed the pup, bacteria in the gut break down the food and ammonia is released. Normally the liver removes this. In an LS pup the ammonia circulates in the blood stream and can cause symptoms like shaking, incoordination, seizures, head-pressing, etc. To help the pup, antibiotics are given to kill the bacteria and stop the ammonia production. Lactulose is given to absorb/bind the remaining ammonia, so the liver has less work to do remove it. It also hurries the food from the gut so it spends less time in the pup and he poops it out. Then Denemarin (or similar product) is given to support the liver by helping to remove toxins, preventing liver cell death, and promoting liver cell regeneration. Feeding low protein, vegetable protein foods help by not overworking the liver. It is recommended to feed nothing over 18-19% protein. Hard boiled egg and cottage cheese contain good, easily digested forms of protein and can be added to her food. So even though she's very sick now, on these medications her health can improve greatly. Some pups with LS are managed solely with proper food and medications, and can live a relatively normal life. And I'll be checking back for an update...

| Help for Melody Hello, I've been reading your posts this evening and my heart goes out to you for the difficult time your having with Melody. If you would like for me to come pick her up and get her the help she requires please let me know. I see you live in Mammoth Lakes, that about 3 1/2 hours form me. I'll make sure she gets the needed medical help and find a suitable home without small children. It's very difficult to have a small dog but to have a small yorkie is twice the care of a normal size yorkie. You have to be very careful because of the size and they tend to have more health problems. I have Punken and Breese and they require a lot of work and time. I'm home with them 24/7 and it takes up practically all my time. Breese is only 3.7 pounds and is very fragile and requires special care only because she was born with birth defects. I was quite aware when I got her she had the problem. I always go for the underdog and that's the reason I pick her. She had since had surgery and you wouldn't know she had anything wrong with her. If you want to give Melody a chance at life, then think about what I've written and get in touch. If not me, find someone ...... NOW.. time is precious and it's running out. Kathleen |
