Sorry if this offends anyone, but I just have to say it. People may mean well, but sometimes it takes more than meaning well.

I feel the same way. It breaks my heart to see Melody suffering as her liver fails when options to save her were presented days ago.

Maybe some people are going to think I am off base here, but I still dont understand why this puppy has been left with the owner who is apparently not working , has no money for vetting, has to deal with an inexperience vet , a vet who was smart enough to diagnose LS but failed to even hit a GOOGLE button to look up the appropriate meds that may have helped this poor puppy months ago. Imagine this vet needed a random person from YT to call his office to tell him the appropriate meds to give this puppy
I have read and re read this entire thread and I just dont know how it was assumed VIA a phone call that this puppy only needed meds and new food to make it well? I certainly have to say I hope with out offending any one that the pups BONDING issues here are not as important as its LIFE....
I just dont understand how a phone call to the OP with out physycally seeing this poor puppy determined that just meds where better then this puppy getting into a rescue , where the person attending to the puppy is at least familar with YORKIES and has money for emergency vetting if needed.. What if this puppy gets sickly and Kathleen is in the hospital and the OP cant get ahold of her.. THE OP stated she doesnt HAVE ANY MONEY.. Please GOD someone get this poor puppy to a rescue... I just have to say that although this puppy is bonded to the other puppy the OP stated that Melody is drooling , walking into walls as thou she is blind. I dont see how Playing with the other puppy is an issue.
I am not heartless I just feel that maybe this PUPPY needs to be seen by a VET that is familar with LS , and not a vet who perscribes meds because someone from YT told him too!! FROM THE SOUNDS OF IT, THE NEW FOOD AND MEDS ARE NOT WORKING!!!

Its just very frustrating that , someone offered to pick the puppy up, so the OP stopped looking for other options, when Kathleen determined a few days ago via the phone call that the puppy would be better off staying put and on new food and meds? ( this is NOT always the case from what I have read and seen) and now apparently not the case here either if the puppy woke up with a big bloated belly which is a sign of LIVER FAILURE.. if the puppy had just went to rescue 4 days ago when everyone offered to help get the puppy in there, maybe her LIVER wouldnt be failing...From what I understand from reading about Liver Shunt there are very few Drs who are experts in this area, yet with out even physically seeing this puppy or her having a scintigraphy done it was determined that food and meds would even help, because from what I have read its VERY possible it wont???

Krystal you say you love this puppy , please please contact a rescue for Melody I know how much you love her and want to keep her , but it is very possible your other puppy from the same breeder could have medical problems too as she is young and may just not show signs yet..By giving Melody to a rescue it will allow you so much more time with your healthy puppy and you can focus on her medical needs as well as her life and really really enjoy her..you need to focus on your puppy now as she is still young and will require her shots, her spay her heartworm which is all can be expensive...

I'm almost afraid to keep reading this thread, I'm afraid the next post will be one informing everyone that little Melody has passed away I really don't understand why she isn't getting proper treatment if this is what she so desperately needs and so many have offered help!

I am beginning to think this is just a troll, because after watching a Liver Shunt take the life from my precious baby I cannot beleive any one in their Right Mind can sit and watch this happen to their baby who they LOVE and do nothing! From what I understand a bile acid test has already been performed, and the vet has confirmed a Liver Shunt in November? If her liver is shutting down then she is Dying infront of you! There is not time to spare. Melody must get to a rescue who has the ability to care for her and get her the treatment she needs to live. What is this OP thinking? Caring for a Liver Shunt baby is a long and costly road (if she lives). Who will pay for the care that she will need for the rest of her life if the OP cannot pay for her medicine right now? If this is not just a cruel joke please wake up and get this baby help NOW before it is too late, and I am afraid Melody is about out of time.

Not as far as I know. What concerns me at this point are a couple of things: Kathleen hasn't posted yet so I'm unsure if she is aware of bloated belly.

2. Co-ordination of help for melody.

3. It's fine to express our support for melody's owner - but it's hard to know if she is reading the posts and / or if people have been pm'ing her and she has responded via private message. For eg: after reading posts she called the vet - took Melody in and communicated that via a pm to someone.

Her previous posts say that she's had the dog since the end of june--she said on July 3rd that she got the pup on Monday (which is the last part of June).

Beginning of Nov she came on YT complaining that her dog shakes all of the time and has since she got her and everyone recommended she take the dog to the vet then.

????? This has been ongoing for 1/2 a year!!!!!

Yes, PLEASE, Krystal. I know that may not be an easy thing to do, but right now the most important thing is Melody. Not you, not your other puppy. Melody is sick and you will be giving her a chance at life. I do not see her living a long life if you continue to let this go.
I know Kathleen may be well intentioned, but good intentions are not going to cure Melody.

I just cannot comprehend this whole thing and how it is going down.

I hope she called the vet and told him or her about the bloated belly this morning.

one of my boys has his head laying on my lap top right now watching me type. I just want this little girl to get some help at UT or wherever that might be but soon.

I just feel so helpless and sad right now.
