GI Problems are driving me nuts

No she needs to stay on the itraconazole because this is the drug that will kill the fungus. It may take 6 months or longer.

Bonny, thanks so much, I feel better today. My vet Dr Hawthorne called me today and is going to start treating her. The specialist is very very expensive. They will be working together. I feel so much better today. Thanks. He asked me if I bought her in Mississippi or Ga or Alabama because you see more cases there. Nope Got her from Dallas and have had her since 12 weeks. She has always been a lazy Yorkie. Loves me to carry her everywhere. I grew attached as soon as I saw her. Thanks for your support Bonnie.

the great thing here you need to keep thinking is the liver can rejuvenate itself it is the most forgiving of anything and the meds are causing this as it gets processed through the liver so do not get too bummed and hold on to the positive and you can always cleanse the liver - if you are already home cooking juice zucchini and celery together then put the pulp on the food and juice she will love it and zucchini cleanses the liver and celery cleanses the urinary tract and this will help - my friends bull mastiffs got into a toxic plant and the liver enzymes were through the roof and she did this and milk thistle and it came down drastically - i would hold off on milk thistle but the zucchini and celery is not going to hurt her - GET ORGANIC - I would try this and see what happens on next blood draw

Thanks so much, I was very worried because she would not eat this morning and I need to give her medicine. She finally ate some baby food a couple of pieces of apple and blueberries. I know I shouldn't do this but I even fed her some smoked salmon. She loved that. I just needed her tummy to be full. This medicine is very toxic.

she's not eating the boiled chicken and rice?
the smoked salmon can be high in sodium which can induce vomiting; be careful with that
i am sorry to hear that she doesnt want to eat; i know how fraustrating that can get. i dont have much advice on what else to feed her. maybe someone else will have more ideas.

Hey girl, Yea that smoked salmon is not good. I just gave her a piece about 1/2 inch. She has been in my arms since I got home. I wont put her down. I just love her so much.

if all else fails everyone says little cesars works if she does not have any issues with allergies maybe have that as a back up plan

you can get the cod at sam's club and steam that as it will help with liver as low in protein try that before the other two i just tried if she liked the salmon just food process as i always worry about bones in fish

You might want to ask Doc about white fish....Just an idea, but it's what Go-Go was on when we were working on her food allergies....check with him, making sure there will be no adverse reaction with the meds or interferring with her problem.

Yes he said to feed white fish so I steamed tilapia tonight for her. She woofed it down. Yea....We made it thru another day. Doc told me that this fungus is treatable, the problem is the medicine. Very toxic and can kill her. Thats why I am so cautious about her eating and drinking water. I will keep her on tilapia for now with fresh fruit and a vegi. or steamed rice. The zuchinni sounds good. I will call my vet in the morning. Thanks so much for all your support. She has no allerigies that I am aware of. Lissette

I just mentioned the white fish, because the nutritionist said it was very bland. Glad you checked it out with doc.

The meds may be playing havoc with her taste buds....so, you just maybe become a canine nutritionist/master chef.

When she's all done and well, she's gonna be one spoiled lil girl......she'll continue to keep you hopping.
