YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() My baby was a tiny one when we brought her home and they said she was eating kibble fine..........she wasn't.....so we fed her chicken and rice baby food and also yogurt light plain and wet dog food until she was able to eat kibble. This worked well for her.

| ![]() You've gotten some good advice - although confusing at times ![]() There's just a few things that I'd like to stress... LIMIT play time to a minimum DO NOT take her out and about DO NOT allow her to be around any other animals (except your own) Treat her as a premie Don't worry so much about the potty training - primary focus is her health If you must crate her - put an article of your clothing that smells like you in with her Keep her warm Pedialyte should be UNFLAVORED PLAIN yogurt Keep a jar of baby food on hand (chicken/rice - beef - turkey --- even those little meat sticks) Take off a few days - she needs you with her - she was taken from her mommy way too soon. Good Luck & keep us posted!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Just wondering.... will I EVER get sleep again??? I had an easier time with my newborns! A MUCH easier time. This puppy woke me up AT LEAST every hour last night. I feel as if I could come down with pneumonia and I am so exhausted!! ![]() |

| ![]() I wish I lived close by - as I would come and help as much as I could. I can only imagine how draining and difficult this is. You have received excellent advice. It also sounds like you are being a great mom and that precious Molly sounds like she is gonna need a tremendous amount of you for some time to come. I hope that you tap into any network of family and/or friends that you may need to help you - because you have to be healthy to keep Molly healthy. I will be keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Oh and one of the things that just grosses me out is everytime she poops, I have to have my hand ready to snatch her up before she eats it! And sometimes I don't catch her in time. Just sickens me to see her eat her own poop. Won't eat much puppy food, but if I were to feed her her own poop, youcan bet she would eat that every time! YUCK!!! ![]() |

| ![]() Can you maybe crush the pill and mix it in some wet food ? |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() I have tried crushing it and mixing it with her food and even blended it in the mixture I fed her with the dropper last night. I am off to buy some canned food in a bit to tie us over until the oder arrives. Hopefully that will work! |

With that being said. I strongly suggest that this puppy be given Goats Milk with Gerber's Rice Cereal, with a bit of Karo Syrup. I see that this pup has been given Flagyl.....at this young age.....I don't think it should be given......it does cause loss of appetite. With loose stools, my vet has prescribed Albon (milder for puppy tummies), even if the pup is not diagnosed with Coccidia

| ![]() I hate to say but I don't believe in any of the pills out there that are supposed to stop with the poop eating habit. I've tried a couple including Forbid and have also gave pinapple. Nothings seems to work but time it seems. Puppies like to play and are curious. They say most just grow out of it. Good luck with that.

Canned Goats Milk can be obtained at WhalMart, mix it with equal parts of distilled water. Make sure the Cereal is at room temperature. Follow your vets orders making sure that your baby is eating regularly......The Karo added to the cereal will entice her.. Careful with changing any foods. Once you get her stable again, you can then add ground puppy kibble into the cereal as she gets older you can begin to just feed her kibbles and puppy wet food. Add a bit of low fat mild cheeder cheese. What I found works great is sprinkling Parmasean cheese. As far as adding Forbid or any like product to stop this wee one from eating her stools......I wouldn't, especially with her tummy as it is right now. Those products have been known to kill dogs. The other product you may think of using is Meat Tenerizer. Remember her eating her poop is a learned habit, she picked it up from her mom. Her mom diapering her and keeping the den clean......Just try and get it up before she gets a hold of it.....eventually she'll stop.

| ![]() [QUOTE=Mardelin;2939936]I use Nutri Drops, much faster absorbing I administer at birth, to give pups a good start. Another thing I administer is Benebac....probiotic for good bacteria. /QUOTE] Mary, you're right about the Nutri-Drops being fast absorbing and I have used them in the past. I tend to not recommend it due to the low dosage needed compared to other products. It's very easy for someone to over-do it if they're not familiar with it. That, and the fact that it usually has to be ordered and most people need something that is easily available. Not sure if you read the whole thread, but the OP posted that she had gotten Molly to eat some kibble since her first post. That's great and is what you would expect in a 10 week old pup. I think the confusion over what meds the baby was getting was from a post made by someone else. I had never heard of anything but albon being used for coccidia until I came on this site.
