They gave me 1/2 pills of Metronidazole 50 mg. The vet said to give her 1/2 once daily until gone.

I think she knew that Haley would not make it to breeding size, but wanted her anyway. She has not wanted to sell her, but I think money got too tight and she had to.

Will it hurt her to give her the 1/2 of the Metronidazole the vet gave me for her?
Okay, yes please scan. I will tell you I am a little concerned about her size compared to her sister. This is not normal and I am some what worried about an autoimmune disease or LS. I don't mean to scare you but that is why I wanted the information on the breeder in Germany and who you bought her from. How long did your friend have her? A breeder for the most part will know at about 3/4 months if they will make breeding size (good guesstimate) but most breeders in Germany ship their dogs over 2 at a time. We have also not seen a lot of Biewers with LP problems so I am wondering if this is from jumping around or she was born with it.

I would give her the meds as the vet prescribed..While Gardia can be cured it is very important to understand she can die from it and it can be passed to humans.

Did your friend say while she did not have her on parvo or her shots? Did you tell her about the Gardia...her dog could also have it.

I'm still not understanding what you were asking when you asked if you could give her half.

You have both pills and liquid?

If I am understanding correctly ... they want her to cut the 50 mg pill in half and give her 25 mg per day. I would follow the vets instructions.

Tonya got her in August. She has said since she got her that Haley would be too small for breeding. She did not say that she was not giving her shots. She told me that she would need her next shots at a year old. I think that she is up to date on her shots, but because the only shots that were listed on this certificate were the last ones she had this vet thought it was all she had.

I have e-mailed her tonight, but I have not heard back from her.

The vet said that her other leg felt fine, but the left knee cap was out of place. Haley does not favor it at all. She jumps and runs like nothing is wrong with her legs. She ate quite a bit of the chicken and rice tonight. She ate a whole chicken breast tender, and almost another one. I took it away from her becasue I did not want her eating too much and getting sick. She is playing right now. She has not acted like she feels bad at all.

Sorry I type even more crazy than I talk. No I do not have any liquid. I have the 50 mg tabs that are cut in half. The vet said to give 1/2 once per day.

She had to have rabies if she was shipped to you? How did you get her? You need to get the vet records from your friend in Florida. I am guessing she does have more shots but you need to know what they are. If you do not have proof of rabies then in order to get her license you are going to have to give her another shot. Vaccinations in these Biewers is causing some problems and you do not want to have to give her more than needed. All shots need to be spaced out. Also does she have a tattoo on her or a micro-chip. It is the law in Germany one or the other.

When you say chicken tender do you mean with a chicken breast that is breaded? If yes, remove the breading as it can also cause her problems. I am glad to here she is eating.

In terms of her knee cap many of these little ones will act like nothing is wrong..it is down the road when the problems set in. A Grade 4 is serious and surgery is in your future for her.

Give her the 1/2 once a day that the vet has already cut up from the 50 mg.

Is your friend just starting her breeding program? Has she bred other dogs.

It will be a lot easier to give the pill if you desolve it in 1 to 2 cc of water
hope your baby gets better soon

Yeah, I was going to say the same. I highly doubt she can be 7 months old at that weight. I have a very tiny girl who is 5 months old and is charting to be 2.5 lbs. full grown and she is right now at 5 months 2 lbs. Something is wrong.

With regard to the Giardia. Unfortunately, my little one also has Giardia. Her first stool came out fine but her second tested positive. What I will tell you and I've had a few with Giardia (I do rescue) is that NONE of mine were effected to where they would not eat or fear of dihydration. Something else may be going on, such as her age? I have a strong feeling she may be much much younger then what you think.

There is a ton of information on the internet about Gardia but it might be a long term battle with it. I am so glad you took her to the vet right away due to her size...You do have to get some food in her so the nutrical will help but if she is not crazy about the chicken then you might try the Little Cesars (I hate it) but it is more important she eats or baby Jr food.

The puppy I am fostering tested negative last Sunday and by Friday she was pooping blood and mucous 6-8 times a day. The shelter retested her Friday and she showed positive for Giardia. She is eating and playing fine but is not gaining any weight. She weighs 3.6 lbs. She is on her 3rd day of Panacur and has only pooped 3 times today. I called my vet as I am afraid my girls are going to get it and she said she didn't want to put them on anything until they showed a sign of having it and then she would put them on Metrodrozinole. She prefers that to Panacur. I hope your little one starts eating and that both of ours can get over this.

Hershey (my mini dachshund) had Giardia and he was prescribed with metronidazole as well and it cleared it up. They also treated him for Coccidia as well at the same time just in case and they prescribed Albon for it. Everything cleared right up and he hasnt anymore problems with it. Your lil darling should be fine too!

I dont want to gross you out but just be sure you always wash your hands after cleaning up any potty and also if you have just been handling your furbaby alot before you eat or stick your hands in your mouth because we can get giardia...but as long as you use good hygiene you will be fine. I have good hygiene but I still kiss my furbabies alot and I didnt get it so you will fine...I just wanted to point that out...mainly in the event if you have young skin kids!
