I am a very successful career person and think i am pretty intelligent but in this area i was stupid as had no clue and why i spend so much of my time trying to educate others on health in animals, etc as i have experienced so much now and feel sorry for people as i think honestly most people do not do their homework. They think i want to get a dog and they get a dog from the fastest place they can. Another thing is i had no clue about rescues until i stumbled across petfinder.com one day and rescued my maltese. Yep i guess you could say i must have been living in a cave lollllll as now knowing all this stuff I feel like an idiot but I have to say there are probably alot of people like me as money was not my issue - I do feel things happen for a reason as i was able to care for them and I am able to help others from what i have learned and i went from workaholic to dogaholic lolll | |

| At this point, it's not about what she should have done before she purchased this baby but, how we can help her through this trying time. Offering knowledgable advise on caring for her new yorkie, what she can do to keep it healthy in the future.

| this is why when i go out i take my shoes off when i come home not to bring stuff like this home and if i go to a dog show, pet store, pet expo, etc I come home and wash my shoes i was wearing as i do not want to take any chances with my dog getting sick as i have an immune suppressed yorkie from a backyard breeder. She is hypothyroid, atopic dermatitis, mvd, and she has luxating patella in back 2 legs. She is basically a mess and has been since she was 6 months old. I paid $1300 which was not cheap. I also have a friend who searched out did all her homework and bought from one of the best breeders and paid $3,000 to get a good quality healthy dog and she ended up with a dog that had liver shunt and now has 25% use of his kidney after having the liver shunt surgery. She has spent over 25,000 on this dog. She did her homework and still ended up with problems. I also have a pet store pup as i had no clue and did not do my homework before buying a yorkie and he is healthier than my byb dog. I paid $1500. I have seen people pay $3k for a pet store pup. I do not think it is always about the money but i do think people like myself do not educate ourselves prior to getting a dog and do not research that when a dog gets sick it is going to be thousands. I have spent over 20k probably 25k plus at this point and luckily i have it. I wish i did my homework. I also have a rescue maltese who is from a show breeder and she is in the best health of all so having 3 dogs one puppy mill, one rescue/show breeder, and one byb i feel i have learned alot. My byb is AKC and i thought that was to mean i had a good quality yorkie. I found that really does not mean much as she is a mess. I understand I made a mistake in not doing my homework but i do know it is a living thing there is no guarantee even if you pay 3k plus for a yorkie but i would hope a responsible breeder is bile acid testing and not inbreeding as if we inbred humans we would have a mess so why would that be any different in a dog. The first thing my vet said when she read my byb yorkie papers was oh a little inbreeding going on here and sure enough her immune system is shot. I titer her, take her to the best doctors, specialists, holistic, dermatologist, dr jean dodds for blood work you name it she has had the best care possible and still she is a mess as I cannot change the fact that she probably was poorly bred. __________________ Debbie , Dexter , Dee Dee:: and Demi Debbie your one very Special Lady to take such care on your babies. I know when Breese was born, she was born with birth defects, and I took her because of that reason. It was LP but twisting of the lower leg from the knee because two many puppies in the litter. My vet felt she didn't have enough room during the pregnancy. I know this specialist that worked on Tuffy and he managed to turn the lower portion of her legs. It was very expensive but gave me a break and was able to make payments. He was a wonderful vet. This vet has clients fly in from all over, just to have their pets surgeries. The vet works on any type of animals.. even larger animals. Tigers, I know for one but he's great. Like I said, " You're One Outstanding Person", have gone what you went through and never thought once about giving them away because they weren't perfect. I'm going to start calling you, ... The Angel Lady of Special Pets. You have a wonderful day and take care. God Bless You for all you do. Kathleen... Mom To My Little Girls... | Debbie ( The Angel Lady of Special Pets ) Dr. Kline at Small Animal Hospital in Arcadia, California. Some of the office staff are a little hard to deal with because to them it's all business but sometimes you just have to over look situations. He is the BEST!! Great Surgeon... He did a procedure on Tuffy years ago and when I brought Breese for check, he look at me and said, " You had Tuffy". For a doctor to remember who I was after years is remarkable to say the least. He loves what he does... Have a great day!! Kathleen.. Mom To My Little Girls: Punken Pie ![]() Breese Be Be My Lil Ol Tuffy |

| Nick, I am so glad to hear that little Phoebe is doing better and was able to take a "piece of home" in the form of her NapSak to the vet with her. I sincerely hope that by the time of this post she is home, healthy and happy. |

| That is where the problem lies. Lack of research on the part of the buyer. Most people will do more research before buying a cell phone than they will before buying a puppy? Many just assume that all yorkies are the same so price is what matters. On the other end of the spectrum are those that believe if they pay $3grand for one that it is good quality. So How is Phoebe doing today. Has she come home yet? |
