| Mr. Big-New problem this morning!!! Need help! I gave an update on Mr. Big at the end of my yesterday thread about him being hospitalized, possibly due to hypoglycemia. But I thoguht I repeat my last post in a new thread to bump it up. Here's what I wrote: Took him to the pee pad this morning. He usually lifts the leg and lands a few drops on the corner. This morning, he squatted (like boys dogs do sometimes when they can't find a vertical sirface, you know? Like leaning forward a bit and peeing) and he started to pee. And he peed, and peed and peed and peed...honestly he was peeing for a good 30 seconds, and the pee circle on the pad was getting bigger and bigger (mind you, we're talking a bout a tiny little guy under 3 pounds). I was so surprosed, and was wondering when it was ever going to end! So I sat down and looked under the belly, there was nothing coming out at this time, but he continued to "squat", trying to squeeze something out. And then after a few seconds the final 2-3 drops came out and he walked away. Ok, maybe it's only my imagination, but I think the last 3 drops were kinda colourful. I think I saw a very very faint "red" tint. Inly those last drops. But then again, might have been the light in the bathroom, I don't know. Any idea what happened this morning again???????

| Hi there! I'm not a Vet, but my lhasapoo has been having alot of urine, bladder crystals problems lately, and I've been talking to many Vets and reading up alot on it. Take your little one back to the Vet asap....it sounds to me like he has crystals in his urine, and perhaps, he now has stones which are blocking his urethra and that is why he couldn't pee and struggled...and the red might indicate bleeding from the stone scrapping in there...he would need surgery immediately to remove the stone so he doesn't become toxified by his own waste.... Even if this is not what's happening, not being able to pee in such a tiny guy is a HUGE problem...take him to the Vet and explain exactly what happened.... Always better to be safe than sorry....good luck! I'll pray for your little one... |

| Oh -- and the excessive peeing in the first instance is indicative of a bladder/liver problem....so regardles....take him to get checked out. I would ask for a blood panel and urine test sent to the lab....then based on those results, you'll be able to know if you need more. I would also suggest X-rays to see if there are crystals or stones causing blockage... Best of luck! |

| He actually didn't have a problem peeing. On the contrary, he peed so much I was even surprised how all this pee came out of this little body!!!! It was only at the end that even though he was finished peeing, he was still trying to get a couple more drops out. And that's when I suspected that I saw a bit of color!

| Happy to hear you are taking him in. MY guy was also peeing like CRAZY!! Tons and tons of the wee wee pads...and it had a real foul odor and odd dark almost orange color. We've been doing blood work and urinanalysis. But basically, the tons of peeing is indicative of a bladder/possible liver issue. But the straining to pee those last few drops is what made me think possible stones, or even crystals cause he's such a little guy....all in all, nothing to panic or worry to much about. You're being smart and getting him help....that's what needs to be done. Best of luck with everything!! |

| Finally got home from the vet half an hour ago. After feeding the babies and geting out of my office clothes (finally...ahhhh....long dayyyy), here i am, on YT (you think i'm addicted already?) Ayways. Apparently yesterday he was given a lot of water to drink at the hospital (to make sure he was not dehydrated from the walk the night before), then he was put on canned food (he eats kibbles, and sometimes homemade doggy food) so that was also some more extra fluids. And apparently he didnt pee yesterday when he was there. So they think it might be just a lot of pee that had been accumulated and needed to come out. I am gonna have to watch him for the next few days and see if any of the symptoms come back, in which case im gonna have to take him back to the vet immediately. Otherwise it's all good. Lets keep out fingers crossed.

| SO SO happy to hear Mr. Big is doing ok....my little Lhasapoo boy, Chewy, seems to be doing better too...pee is lessening and seems to be going back to a normal color....All I've done is cut out his dry food...and that seems to be doing the trick. We're going back in for blood work on Friday -- so I hope everything turns out A-OK. Keep us posted on Mr. Big -- your little guy has been in my thoughts! |
