Hi there! I'm not a Vet, but my lhasapoo has been having alot of urine, bladder crystals problems lately, and I've been talking to many Vets and reading up alot on it.
Take your little one back to the Vet asap....it sounds to me like he has crystals in his urine, and perhaps, he now has stones which are blocking his urethra and that is why he couldn't pee and struggled...and the red might indicate bleeding from the stone scrapping in there...he would need surgery immediately to remove the stone so he doesn't become toxified by his own waste....
Even if this is not what's happening, not being able to pee in such a tiny guy is a HUGE problem...take him to the Vet and explain exactly what happened....
