Default Throwing up 2 days in a row

My husband and I came home to our 5 year old Yorkie, Reggie, having thrown up in 3 different spots yesterday. A big area and two smaller ones. We have been very lucky as he is very healthy normally so this was scary but I figured he ate too much too fast. When I woke up this morning he had finished his crunchies, that are always out for him. And this afternoon when we got home, 2 more small areas of vomit. They are a mustard color- I was told this is stomach bile..on top of it all he has dry skin and has been itching lately. A part of me thinks he might have thrown up because of licking the spray we use on his dry area. I finally got him doggie neosporen and an e collar, and he is just chilling right now. But I am so nervous to leave him all day tomorrow...we leave about 8 and get home at 5:30ish. He has been able to keep down the treats we have given him so far...but I am so scared to come home and find that he was sick tomorrow. Anyone been in this same pickle? Your comments are appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, I have a 5year old Yorkie as well. I hope Reggie feels better soon...like today. What food are you feeding? Often times they itch from food allergies. Maybe a change in food would make him stop itching and also settle his tummy. Has he seen a vet for the itching, did you mention his vomiting? Poor baby probably just doesn't feel well...get a vets advise if you haven't already. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

Zeus will vomit the stomach bile if he goes too long without food. He gets in these moods when he refuses to eat and then he gets sick.

Any other signs of illness?

He has not had any changes in his food. He has been on the same food for at least 2.5 years nmow. Its called Dick Van Patten natural balance organic dry food, which he loves. And usually for breakfast I give him a dog food roll, same brand.

He has had dry skin for years, we have seen a vet for it before and we have pills he takes a few months out of the year.

The only other sign I saw was taking him for his walk yesterday, I now look back and feel like he was dragging a bit...poor guy...I thought he was just being fussy wanting to stop and smell everything. And yesterday was unually humid here in Orange County and very hot.

have you had the thyroid tested as skin issues and lethargy are tied to thyroid sometimes so i recommend having a 6 panel thyroid done through jean dodds or michigan state on your next blood work up to rule this out - has he had any hair loss or weight gain? They only need one symptom to have thyroid issues and all dogs who have skin issues should have thyroid tested to rule it out as it does run in the breed. If not thyroid and your dog does not have any pancreas issues I recommend adding omega 3 to diet by Welcome to Nordic Naturals as omega 3 fatty acids help with skin issues

Maybe he became overheated during the walk? Has he been drinking water ? your correct that it is stomach bile he was vomiting up , because their is nothing left in his stomach.
My female yorkie does this if she has not eaten in a while too. Only rarely.
How is he feeling now? can he keep anything down? if not , then the biggest threat to his health right now, is dehydration. I would not let it continue for much longer, take him in to the vet .

He is doing better, it seems. When he starts itching I put his ecollar back on and he has had some dry food and lamb strips in the last couple hours and he is fine. He is also back to his normal ways of barking at any passer-by

I will play it by ear tomorrow and see if I need to stay home with my love bug. Thank you for all your concerns and posts.

Thanks for your posts. His stomach is fine now, thank goodness! But his skin still a tiny bit dry and itchy but much better than it was the last few days! Stomach must have just been a bug or something that passed and his dry skin most likely due to a change in our weather...now that I think of it, last week was humid compared to this week and little man probably just needed to adjust his fur coat =)

you can try putting him on bland diet (boiled chicken and rice) for few days to settle his stomach; and also the itching will disapear; mine was itching non stop until i put her on bland diet; i realized she was allergic to the food. so u might have to switch food. good luck

Hope your love bug continues to improve. I really don't know too much about skin issues...thank goodness I've never really had that problem. Except one time after going for a walk Winston broke out in a rash on his belly...the vet assumed he walked through something he was allergic to, but I don't know what. Glad to hear his tummy has settled down!
