| My babys sick since he had his shots I have a 2 5 month old male yorkies and last Friday they had their first round of shots, for parvo and distemper, and my little Rowdy has been sick every since, Chevy on the other hand slept for about 4 hours from stressing but is fine, except he is sad about his brother being sick. Rowdy would not eat anything Friday and was just listless. Saturday he felt like he had a fever and started vomiting and having direha. I called the Vet and asked him if it could be a reaction to the shots and he said No, to give him kaopectac and small amounts of water at a time and not to try and press him to eat. On Sunday he was vomiting more, a lot more listless, his poop was white and he had no energy at all, but direha was slowing way down. On Monday I took him to the Vet and he said that Rowdy had all the symptoms of Parvo and that in no way could it have been from the shots and he gave me a antibiotic and some pills for his stomach, told me to give him water, a teaspoon full to give him Karo syrup and no food for 12 hous and to call him Tuesday afternoon and let him know how Rowdy was. He did not run any tests or do any blood work, which concerned me, I want to know what is wrong with my Baby, Rowdy cannot even keep the water down, he threw up as soon as we got the medicine down him, which we had to fight him to get him to take it. 3 hours after that he can't hardly hold his head up his eyes look blank and he does not even try to get up so I called another Vet he said he could not say what was wrong but to give him a Tablespoon of water every 20 minutes and if he was still vomiting tommorrow to bring him in. Needless to say it is 2 in the morning here where I live in Indiana and we have no Emergency Vets. I have been giving Rowdy drinks every 20 minutes and times he does not want it, his vomiting has slowed down but his intake is less, he was very thirsty, he lived by the water bowl and earlier he wanted to drink and drink and drink. I am just beside myself this is my first experience with yorkies and I just love them to death. I am trying to make him better but he is only getting worse, and the Vet does not seem to know what is wrong either, I have decided that I am going to take him to another Vet tommorrow, I only pray that I have not waited to long listening to the wrong Vet. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone had any problems with their yorkie after getting their shots ? I have 5 dogs all total and Rowdy is the only one sick so I think his idea of Parvo is wrong. Desperate in Indiana. Thanks Bev. |

| Good for you I would go to another vet too. Please keep us update on how he is doing. I'm sorry I can't be of any help. I've never dealt with anything like this before.

| Oh, the poor little guy! How is Rowdy today? That seems like such a long time to be vomiting and such for a little guy. He is your pup and you have the right to tell the vet what you want done. If you want blood work, tell him. If you want an exray, tell him. There is another post right now, 2 down from yours, where another Yorkie isn't doing well right after getting shots. I feel that your pup is in danger and needs to see a GOOD vet ASAP. Please update us on little Rowdy. I pray he will improve today. |

| Babies can get ill when they have thier shots. It can almost be like they come down with a mild form of what the shot is for. They can have upset tummies, cough, sneeze sound congested, temperature and have loose stools. Your baby for what ever reason has had a reaction. Human children can have the same responses when they are gave thier baby shots. This does not man that every child/puppy will have a reaction. Has to do with the bodies immune system and it's response. If not better within 48 hours you need to see a vet. Make sure that your vet does not use the same time of medication for any other vaccinations he might need in the fiture. Hope he gets to feeling beter soon Kathy |

| This poor baby. i hope the new vet was able to help. Vaccines are very dangerous and there is a lot controversy on the subject. There are several threads on here that have citations to web addresses for more info. I have decided that the benefits of vaccines are not worth the risk and I will no longer let the vet give my dogs any more vaccines. The vaccine most definitely could be (probably was) the cause of the puppy getting parvo. The only dogs my vet has ever seen with distemper were dogs who were vaccinated for it. The vaccine causes the disease in the dog. Please read up on this controversial subject and make educated decisions about your dogs' needs. |

| Rowdy is at the Doggie Hospital Now I called every vet in my phone book the other nite, I just could not watch my baby be so sick. I stayed up all night and fed him a tablespoon full of water every 20 to 30 minutes then I took him to another vet as soon as they opened at 8:00, he is on Iv's getting antibiotics and nutrients thru his iv now. The vet assured me that she would settle for nothing less than him getting better. I am going to visit him in an hour. And she did not think I was crazy because I said he had a reaction to the shot. The other vet had said that never happens. I am so happy that my little Rowdy is going to be well. Thank you all for your interest and support. My other little yorkie, Chewie is so sad, the vet says that Rowdy will probably be able to come home tommorrow. So we are going to have a party. Will let everyone know when he comes home. Thanks again. |

| Hang onto that new vet!! I just saw your post ... so sorry about little Rowdy! These little ones can dehydrate very quickly and sometimes that is more dangerous than whatever made them sick in the first place! I pray the little guy will continue to improve ... getting IV fluids should help a lot! Please give him kisses from us and we will keep him in our prayers. Thanks for the updates!

| Rowdy is eating today Hello and Thank You to all of you, your concern and support were very appreciated. When I got to the Vet's office this morning as soon as he heard my voice he was barking and getting excited. That was Heaven to hear his bark. He even chewed on me while I was there visiting him. The Vet says that he has a Viral infection also besides the shot reaction. He still has a little direaha, May be will get to bring him home tommorrow, depends on his blood work and results of them. We were all excited to see him up and barking and getting some of his appetite back. He pouted at me because I could not take him out of the cage but he chewed his IV in two so they have him all taped up. I know that now he is feeling a little better that he will be getting bored and will probably bark his head off and the Vet and all in her office will be good and sick of him and ready for him to go home. He tells you what he wants. LOL Will let you all know how the little guy is tommorrow... And you all have some cuties !!!!! |

| Glad that Rowdy is doing better and hope he gets to come home soon. While I was ready your post I realized that you are in Terre Haute. Wow that is only about 15 minutes from me!!! We live in Farmersburg. Haylee will be due for shots soon and now I am all worried about this happening to her too. She has brought so much happiness to our lives already well except for Graff who still wishes she would go away. But it has only been a few days and I am hoping that he will come around. He has always been a jealous one anyway. Haylee slept with us again last night and slept all night long. I can no longer put her in the playpen as she has learned how to climb out of it. She is a little daredevil. |
