| I don't know how I missed this, but I wanted to say how happy I am that you took him to a different vet and got him the care he needed and that he is getting better. Isn't it amazing how much love you have for them?

| I am so glad that Rowdy is living up to his name. They can put a scare in us with their upsets I would suggest that your vet give his vaccines as individual components as opposed to a combo shot..That way you can determine which component is the culprit and not give it again..tat is if it is not something required by law. |

| I am glad to hear Rowdy is doing better. Hopefully he will get to come home soon. I have had one of my dogs have a reaction to the shots and that is scary enough. I caant imagine what you have went through. I am also from Indiana and its so good to see so many hoosiers on this thread. Best of luck!

While some puppies may have a reaction - it's a very small percentage - Vaccinations ARE given for good reasons - you should always talk to your vet when deciding what's best for your puppy ...but no one should just say NO MORE SHOTS. Vaccines cause reactions in many children - would someone NOT give them if they thought their child was going to get sick ? I hope not - the diseases they protect them against are far worse. I'm so glad your baby is doing better but please talk to the doctor when deciding how to handle future shots - they can be spaced out over a period of time and it's much easier on the puppy...

| Rowdy's Home And Feeling Better Thanks to everyone for all your posts ! ! ! We got to bring Rowdy home yesterday evening. His stomach is still sensitive and he wants to eat everything but the Vet put him on a bland diet for a week. I have to feed my other dogs outside now so he won't get to the regular dog food, he cries because he can not go out with them, even that is good to hear though. He is home and on the mend. I contribute that to the excellent care that he got at our new Vet. I will have some pics up next week to introduce all of you to Rowdy and Chewie. But till then thanks for all the advice and concern. His new vet wants to give him 1 serum at a time no multiple serums at a time. There is a new post about the Greenies, hope everybody reads it I almost bought a bag yesterday. Bye for now Bev and Rowdy. |

| Glad to hear that your little guy is feeling better, when my Samson got his shots the first time, he was feverish, and shaking, vomiting, whimpering, and i was so scared i raced to the emergency vet.... he told me it was viral and sold me on some antibiotics... being my first dog, and first yorkie, i was freaked!! so i called the vets when they opened and the offerred to watch him for the day, and they immediately felt it was due to the shots, as they are so small. So after spending the money on meds, they weren't necessary, as he was better that evening. Good for you for getting a second opinion, i find i get different answers from a lot of doctors. But ever since to be on the safe side, he has received the rest of his shots in half doses, so it is easier on his system, and then we return the next week for the rest... maybe that is something they should do for Rowdy in future, so that his next vaccinations can be better experiences. Glad to hear that all is well |

| Nosodes are a safer and more effective alternative to injectible vaccines and they actually work, whereas most vaccines do not. In addition, a diet to encourage a healthy immune system works wonders for all dogs. Any "reaction" to a vaccine is a bad one. It is not just a few dogs who react. Being sleepy, less active, not wanting to eat..these are all reactions and should be viewed as a reaction. Yes, there are people who do not gove their children vaccines due to the overwhelming evidence that they do more harm than good. I know this is a controversial subject but if yiu really take the time to research it thoroughly you won't be sorry and your dog will have a healthier life. |

I am in favor of one round of single vaccines for parvo and distemper in a young puppy but if they had any reaction to the vaccine at all I would never vaccinate again. This is the decision I have come to after much research. And I have even more stories of puppies getting parvo and distemper FROM the vaccine. It is a risk and every person has to become educated enough to question the vets and stop the madness of the over vaccinating. If a puppy has a reaction, even a slight reaction, then he is one who is most susceptible to developing an even worse condition in later life than the potential threat of some disease that is curable if they get it like kennel cough, parvo, lepto or corona. Would you rather they avoid these but die at a young age from cancer or suffer their whole lives with severe allergies, seizures or a compromised immune system. These are the evaluations you as a dog owner must make in an educated manner. I am confident that history will prove me right on this.
