Bella might have 1/2 of a tiny baby carrot (the kind that are peeled in those snack size bags)...maybe every other day. I'm not a really big treater...so, do you think even that little is too much sugar? Just for the record...I may not be a big treater BUT, my girlies have a Toy Box (Basket) to die for!!! lol! As for the dog food...that's what Bella's Vet spent a few minutes enlightening me on yesterday.

| I'm so sorry to hear about Bella.. I hope she can cut that weight and get things under control! I have to say a big thanks for the links to the video's. Oliver has been reverse sneezing lately and I was starting to worry that it was CT. But, after watching the video, it is definitely reverse sneezing and I feel better! Whew! Keep us posted on how Bella is doing!

You know...that is how this all started with Bella. It was what I thought was for sure just a "reverse sneeze" and probably was back in the beginning. However, it did progress into where we are today with a "Collapsed Trachea". So, I almost wonder if it would be wise to ask for an x-ray if your dog is already "reverse sneezing" just to rule out CT. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Would it make a difference?

| Pic's of Bella & the girls... Well, I got to speak with Connie today about our babies with CT and I so appreciated the time she took to share...so, Thank you Connie! As promised...here are pic's of Bella & the girls. Bella is my Chubbah-girl with the floppy ears. The last pic includes my last little YTNR-Rescue Yorkie-boy, Sammie (aka Rascal) who went to live with his forever Momma a couple weeks ago!

| If Oliver is ever under for whatever reason I will get them to xray and check. He's already been fixed before I adopted him and when he was rescued they did a FULL work up including xrays and only noted a mild luxating patella in one leg, so I think he's likely ok. But, if he's ever under anyways it certainly wouldn't hurt just to be sure! Ollie is on a diet right now too - certainly not as stringent as he is not overweight, but he has gained since I've had him and with that LP that is not a good thing. His favorite new snack is cauliflower! He go NUTS for the stuff!!!!

| If Bella can put on the weight easily, I would have the vet check her thyroid levels. She might be hypothyroid, which would explain the weight gain, and the trouble losing it. If she has this, it needs to be treated as well. She would be feeling a lot better after treatmetn, if this is what causing the extra weight . + with the CT, that could be back under control easier .

Bella update: She's doing so good on her diet---not begging for extra meals either...so, we're just waiting for a call any day now from "Jenny Craig" to try out for their next spokes-yorkie! I'm not sure how long it takes for her Temeril-P to kick in but, during the day it seems to be a little bit better but, at night time or in the wee hours of the morning is when it gets a bit rough. Ohhh, and also something new that just started...does anyone know why her nose is getting all dried out and crusty? I noticed she licks it a lot as if to moisten it but...it's not working. Is there anything I can put on it but, that's safe for her in case she licks it?

raw coconut oil is an antibacterial and antifungal and very safe for them to lick so i would recommend that as it has worked miracles on my yorkies hot spots | |

He said for now until we get her under control, he would like for me to use the Temaril-P as directed (1 tab q 12 h daily) and not worry about tapering the dosage just yet. Since her coughing/breathing is still pretty bad (especially, during the wee hours of the a.m.) he wants me to add the Val-Turbogesic syrup (q 4 hrs, as needed). I've been giving Bella the Temaril-P & Amoxicillan immediately after her meals...I'll check with her Vet on Monday and see if he wants me to do anything different...but, your way does sound prudent! We don't want no stinkin' ulcers, too! IF and I mean IF...I needed to seek out a 2nd opinion, does anyone know of a good Internist (didn't even know they have 'em in Veterinary medicine!) out my way? I live in Murrieta, CA (Riverside County) but, relatively close to Orange & San Diego County, too. Thanks Debbie for sharing...

| you know i did not know what an internal medicine specialist was until dex almost died of pancreatitis and then i found out they have further schooling than regular vet and md so i now see one as my regular physician as well as my insurance covers it instead of going to a general practicioner so it is amazing what you learn with a sick dog lol |
