| Hello are you still there ? Well I hope she's racing like a speed demon to the ER. If you are still there and you see this, you need to know that if her bowel was nicked during surgery she needs to be seen NOW this CAN NOT WAIT until tomorrow. |

| I just got off the phone with the Vet and she said to make sure she stays still and quiet, which she has been this entire time. And if she isn't better in the morning bring her back in. Basically unless blood is pooring out, or she starts running a fever, a little bit here and there is nothing to be too alarmed about. The past couple of times her stool has been more goopy with a few drops of dark blood after, so It seems to be better than the bright red blood that was coming out at first. On the up side other than mostly sleeping she is alert when she is awake. But, I can definitely tell my little darling doesn't feel good.

| Sorry, I forgot to mention that I did what Lilly suggested and there was no blood on the Q-Tip, that's when I decided to bite the bullet and blow up my vet's home phone until she answered.

| Yes but I don't believe there should be blood coming from her rectum, only her vagina. Did you specify the rectal bleeding to the vet? |

| OK, as long as you are sure the blood is not coming from her rectum, only her vagina. Then this ok, as the vet said this her body ridding it's self of all the toxins. Holy crap you scared my bajeebers out of me. Don't do that cause I need my bajeebers. |

| Take her to the Emergency Vet right away (NOW). Rectal bleeding is not normal after abdominal surgery and is indicative of a problem....

| Absolutely, I was very specific. Her answer didn't exactly put me at ease either, but she has been the vet not only I but my family has used for several years. I truly believe that if she thought something was seriously wrong she would tell me to go to the ER. Usually when an animal is spayed or neutered she has them stay over night, but she let me take Geita home today. I'm just wondering now if maybe that wasn't such a good idea.

| Check the color of her gums (medium pink) then press a spot and see how fast it turns from white to pink again. If her gums are pale to white to blue, and refill time is slow, get her to an ER Vet. Didn't you say she had a fever earlier? And that you gave her baby aspirin? Aspirin can thin the blood and prevent clotting .... watch her closely or better yet get her to an ER Vet. Unless she has someone there with her overnight , your dog is better off with you at home... but you need to watch her closely every 15 minutes I;d be checking her..

| I checked her gums and they seem fine. The majority of her gums turned brown after having all but three of her teeth pulled due to her horrible dental problems. But the parts that are pink I checked and they are a very normal and healthy pink and the spot a I pushed in filled back out pretty fast. And I had given her half a baby aspirin at 8 this morning because she was running a fever and we had to wait at the vet's office until 10 a.m. before our vet came in. She has not run a fever since she has been home.

| Very good ... is she more alert now, has the anesthesia wore off? If she's still groggy don't let her sleep for too long a time, and keep checking her gums at least every half hour or so for the next 2-4 hours. Make sure she warm, take her temp to be sure her temp stays normal. If it drops, get her on a heating pad under a thick towel on low and keep checking her temp...

| Thank you so much for all your help lillymae, you called it last night and made it possible for us to skip all the fuss and get my vet into gear the minute she walked through the door. Btw she hasn't had any twinkies today, lol. Dr. Odom said she souldn't eat anything today at all, just a little water. She hasn't really seemed to have much of an appetite anyway. I will definitely try the broccoli though. I'm sure she will love it, she's not a picky girl and will eat anything. She does become a complete phsyco when she smells french fries though and she will sit up on her hind legs, crying and begging, putting her little paws together waving them up and down, like her life depends on it just to get one. I think stopping to get her a small fry from Whataburger the day I rescued her might not have been the smartest idea. My poor little old lady lights up my life!
