| I have taught my kids well also , from your posts you don't sound well at all. So for me to sit her and go back and fourth with you, what does they make me? When I said they wouldn't use their hands again, it wasn't literally it's a figure of speech, but you take it to mean that, so again, something is wrong . I am so happy to hear your baby is going to be ok, sending prayers and lots of love OP.. Last edited by Wylie's Mom; 03-19-2009 at 06:44 PM. |

I too have the rule small children sit on the floor to play..Now after the fact.. ...I just feel bad for the little kid that probably didnt even have a clue as to what the consequences could have been for his actions. I don't mean for this to sound like I'm being ugly so I really hope it doesn't.

| I am very glad that your pup is going to be ok. What a scary experience to have to go through. As for the 5 yr old child , and for any child who is 8yrs old or younger they MUST be "watched like a Hawk" at all times. I taught preschool for over 20 yrs, am a single parent of a autistic 15yr old. It is plain a simple, A 5yr old child is not and can not be held resopsible for his/her owns actions . It is child development 101 . Children are impulsive, they act without thinking. Their brains are not fully developed yet to understand completely right from wrong/understand the full consequences of their behavior . This has nothing to do with how smart a child is at all. It has to do with the developmental stages children go through . Fortunately, this has been a very painful learning experience for the childcare provider, and the price that was paid fell on the poor little yorkie . Has the vet done Ex-rays?

| First off Im so sorry you had to go through all this. the poor puppy. I would be taking the puppy back and make sure that they do xrays. just filling around is not good enough. as for the boy. all kids are not the same while you have one 5 year old that may know better another child may not of been taught how to care for a puppy. No I would not hit or spank the child, but I would of sit him down and tell him what he did was bad. and how he hurt the puppy. as for his parents paying for the vet bill. IDK?? he was in your care and should of been watched at all times. so its just as much your fault as his. some times my son inlaw comes over and does odd jobs for us hes in his 20's but if were not home at the time and I know he will be entering the house, my babies will not be any where in any room he will need to be. Im to afraid he will step on them. accidents happen and I try not to take a chance. I wont even let him or any one else hold my dogs unless their sitting down, I know theres a chance that they might jump out of their arms. so nope. I hope your little one has no broken bones and heals good. |

| Wow so much heat in this thread! Well it's good to hear that your puppy is ok. I normally don't let any kids even touch my dog just because some have gotten a little out of hand before. Some don't understand that there's times when a dog doesn't want to be touched anymore or at all, even if I ask them not to. Still all in all, very glad to hear that your little one is doing better. |
