All 3 of mine (ages 6, 4, and 3) know that they are under NO circumstances allowed to pick Missy up EVER. They may sit on the floor and hold her in their lap while being supervised ONLY. There has to be certain rules when you own a toy breed dog, and they MUST be followed.
My kids know better also, BUT they have always had an indoor smaller breed dog! A lot of children don't know better because they have never been around a tiny dog. If A parent didnt teach a child not to pick up snakes guess what, a child would pick up a snake. Not all parents think to teach their children about Yorkies..We as a Yorkie owner need to teach that to visitors. Like ME, unfortunately the OP had to learn or remember that the hard way.
I too have the rule small children sit on the floor to play..Now after the fact..
...I just feel bad for the little kid that probably didnt even have a clue as to what the consequences could have been for his actions. I don't mean for this to sound like I'm being ugly so I really hope it doesn't.
