| ![]() I will call & ask on monday about a referal closer to you and see what procedure Maggie had. I just remember they put a band type thing in to act as a ligament. Her tear was very severe and although Im sure it hurt she never acted like she was in pain. Also if I remember right hers wasnt acl it was the other knee ligament. Its going to be OK ![]() I would restrict her movement as much as possible so she dosent injure it worse.

| ![]() It happened on a sat and I took her to an emergency clinic. The emergency vet didnt know what was wrong. They gave me pain meds and steriods and sent me home for the weekend. The ortho wasnt in til tues. Because I had no idea what was wrong I didnt let her walk at all. I carried her in a baby sling everywhere and when out of the sling she was in a pack n play because she would have never tolerated crating. So we went back on tues and he knew immediatly what it was. She had the surgery about 7 days later. Her tear was almost all the way through so he didnt want her to walk at all in the meantime, only to go potty. If you have an xpen you could use that. I bought the pack n play at a baby resale shop for only $7. I think the new ones are like $40-120. If it is torn she will need major restiction after surgery to. I think it was 2 weeks then after the 2 weeks they wanted her to walk alot daily to keep it loose.

| ![]() Try a baby resale shop for pack n play and babysling. Its smaller than an xpen and much cheaper. Maggie didnt have xrays or mri because of that reason, that it will show nothing. He could tell by the amount of movement how torn the tendion was. When this happened to Maggie I had just started a new job and couldnt get any time off. It was all fine. Everything will work out. Just dont let her walk anymore. This also may not even be the case with DD, so just take it one day at a time and if needs surgery then you will get through it.

| ![]() Did you want a link to the pack n play? Yes Maggie could use her leg also. She also sometimes looked like nothing was wrong.

| ![]() Ok here is the cheapest pack n play I can find in a store Walmart.com: Cosco - Funsport Portable Playard, Serengeti: Gear But baby resale shops always have these and it will be way cheaper and I think your going to need the sling too I spoke with my vet again. He says that Serdy is the most meticulous surgeon in california and he would drive the couple hours for him if it were his dog. He hasnt heard of the 2 you mentioned but he said he will ask around at his vet conference next weekend but they is probably to far out ![]()

| ![]() Here is a list of resale shops near you, just call and ask what the cheapest pack n play they have is. The one I paid $7 was really nice it had a tiny rip in the mesh near the top so they made it very cheap. When you are done it just donate it to a dog rescue near you. They come in handy for puppies or dogs with surgeries. The pack n plays are great because they have wheels so you can roll them from room to room with you and they fold up to travel size. Just dont worry anymore until you know what it is for sure. Give little DD a hug from me baby resale in Newbury Park, CA 91319 on Yahoo! Local

| ![]() Thank you all. So great to have this forum. He is not doing that well-- eating ok and drinking ok but pooped in the house- unusual for him. I am worried. He is clearly not doing ok when moving (on three legs) but ok when not moving. Good for dad in the nursing home where they all love him (Petie AND dad) and where today and yesterday he sat happily in dad's lap in the wheel chair while we went outside in 40 degree weather we haven't seen here in ME since Nov. Ordinarily he would want to get down and walk on his own. I am vacillating between letting things run their course for a few days and taking him him tomorrow (also, my brother the vet arrives late Tues-- ok to wait until then??) Advice??? |
