The hemoglobin and hematocrit look low, don't they? Does he have anemia? What are is ALT, AST and BUN? |
your right, they do look like.. nobody ever mentioned anemia. ill bring it up at our next visit.. i dont see anything that says AST but the ALT is <10 and the vet did mention the BUN being high but she said it could be from dehydration. thanks so much again ellie may ur the best!!;) |
Thank goodness the blood work looks good and they aren't indicating liver problems. Here is a link to interpreting blood results, which I found helpful: A typical blood chemistry panel usually includes Hope Princeton continues to recover from whatever came over him. Now you can rest a bit. |
Melissa, Thank God it's not a shunt! How much is he eating now? |
Hi Think good thoughts. positive energy works. good luck my thought sand prayers are with you. |
That's good news. |
Sorry to read the news of your Yorkie :( I'm glad he's better and home with you :) It's something we don't expect and I am sure it was difficult :( Good Luck and hope nothing more becomes of the situation :) |
yes he is eating better now because im not afraid to give him the chicken and protein now that shunt is ruled out (he loves his chickyy) and he ate some carrots and wet food.. thanks for the link maui girl, it really is interesting to see what each abbreviation means and how you can tell from those numbers which diseases your dog could have its crazy i spoke to my vet about the low hemoglobin and hemotocrit but he it should be ok they are still in normal range.. i read myself that it can be caused from low iron is there anyway i can increase iron in his diet? the only other thing i see is HIGH RBC in the urinanalysis.. is that blood in the urine? what could cause this? i know the normal for males is 0-3 and prince is 4-10.. in females the norm is 0-12 (well thats just what i read) any ideas why this could be high? thanks for the prayers and thoughts i really believe it works and prince is going to be just fine:D |
I personally see not much out of the ordinary in his blood profiles. The BUN elevation is most likely from dehydration. His creatinine is good...so kidney function seems alright. The physical exam showed no heart arrhythmia or murmur...why does he think he needs an echo? Mitral or atrial valve? Hmmmm... My only suggestion is to feed him whatever he'll eat with enthusiasm (within reason, of course)...he needs nutrition, calories right now to recuperate...continue to let him rest, when he needs to. Hopefully he'll be back up running around doing the zoomies before you know it. Good luck, prayers continue...kisses for Princeton and a hug for you!!! |
well this report was written by the vet at the emergency animal hospital but today at princes regular vet he said he heard an arrthymia so i dont know i guess its better to be safe then sorry thanks for the advice and input on the blood work |
