Is he on Phenobarbital now? It is obviously not working. Lady went through that years ago (she's been epileptic for nine years) and started having cluster seizures. We added potassium bromide and it has made all the difference. She only has a a seizure once a year, maybe less now.

Has your vet been doing bloodwork to check the level of medication in his body? That's important to do, to make sure he is getting the proper dose.

Is there any way you can get him to another vet? You need to get Bailey's seizures under control or they will just get worse and more frequent.

I really feel for you. I'm so sorry that both Bailey and you are going through this. I agree with the other's posts here; I would definitely get at least a 2nd, if not a 3rd opinion. Do you have friends or relatives in another town who could refer you to a vet? Perhaps even allow you and Bailey to stay a day or two with them so Bailey can be seen and thoroughly (hopefully) examined. Maybe then Bailey might have the proper diagnosis and treatment. Just a thought. I wish you and especially Bailey the best. I will keep Bailey in my thoughts, wishing him good health. Good Luck.

Please try to have protection around him during his seizure. You should not hold him down, but protect him from hurting hisself. I had 2 Pomerania's (brother & sister) that had seizures, but they didn't get aggressive. You should try to remain calm, even though it is hard in the beginning. I know how scary it is, the first time I saw Lolli have one, I freaked out. I didn't know what was happening then. Maybe if you are there to comfort him when he comes out of the seizure he would feel less frightened & aggressive.

Sounds scary! My father is epileptic and only seizes when asleep, it's the scariest thing I've ever seen!!! I know in your case it's a pup having an episode, but my point is sometimes the first doctor just doesn't cut it. We went through, we paid thousands of dollars on exams and US doctors told us my dad was as healthy as can be while at night his seizures were just getting worse and scarier. 4 doctors later and finally, one had an answer for us. My dad has been seizure free for years with his meds and all it took was a 3 hour drive to a doctor in Tijuana Mexico.
Also you might try helping your pup out by making sure he doesn't hurt himself while having an episode. It seems like your Baylee is not himself and might not have any control of himself during the episode. Make sure he doesn't fall off anything or hit himself. Your help could end up saving his life. I have a Silky Terrier who has seizures. They were very severe. She is on Phenobarb, adn Potassium Bromide. She still has a few, but, they are pretty mild. Before the meds they were extream. When your dog has one,you should hold her tight, its hard, but she could hurt herself if you don't. She could fall or bang herself. Get her to a new vet and talk about medications. I will pray for you, its hard.

There is so much information there and links you can click on that take you from one page to another...it's a great site. Seizures can be caused from so many things, not just epilepsy...please take the time to check out the site and read some of the information there...you might find something that helps your Bailey.

Please do not hold your dog down tight! Just try to surround the dog with something to prevent them hurting themselves

Any update on your baby? How old is he? What does he weigh? What medication is he on or has he tried?
I pray you find the answer you are seeking...I pray for Bailey to be well.
Ask your vet for a referral to a specialist...even if it's hours away...it may well be worth the time and trouble.
Keep him safe during an episode...do not leave him up on the bed, sofa or chair. Put him on something soft on the floor, away from steps or furniture. Do not leave him alone...when he comes around he needs to hear your voice and be able to see you.
I wonder, did they do any x-rays such as a Ct Scan or MRI of his brain, to rule out any brain damage or tumor?
Help your baby boy by getting another opinion...soon.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, I do know what it's like to watch them having a seizure and feel totally helpless. Please, please let us know how he is and what you've done for him.

Seizures are very scary and while they only last seconds or minutes....they seem like an eternity! I totally freaked out when Sasha had her 1st one!
Since she has been on a low protein diet (3weeks now) she has not had any more seizures, though.

As hard as it seems, it's important to remain calm and talk to them in soothing tones. Sasha is very letharic when she comes out of a seizure....she does not become aggressive at all. Her seizures result from amonia buildup due to inability of her liver to utilize protein properly.

Did your vet do a Bile Acids Test? It would reveal possible liver problems.

If you read the OP's post, she said her Yorkie did have all the tests and his liver function is normal.

I am sorry I have no advice or experience with this, I just wanted you to know that I feel sooo bad for you and Bailey and I truely hope that you can get the help you need to get him better. That sounds really scarey. I do wonder if there is something you can do like put a soft muzzle on him when he sleeps so you can comfort him when this happens without getting bit. I know that probably sounds horrible. Maybe when he starts you can quickly wrap him tightly in a blanket and hold him until the fit passes where he cannot get at you. Im so sorry girl (((HUGS)))
