My poor baby, its like no one understands an i feel like he's gonna die!! I'm in tears right now as i type this, so stay with me :( Bailey just had ANOTHER fit. Hes been having them about 7months now. He has had blood tests liver tests all sorts done and he is on medication and yet he is still having them. My vet took ages to finally put him on meds when i said enough was enough and they better do something about it, this was last september. They let him fit every 2weeks for about 2 months they kept tellin me lets wait and see if he stops, but he never did. They scare the life out of me, i try to stay calm but they really shake me up and upset me. They started to get less about every 6weeks but they are back with force and he is having them every 10days or so. He went the vet last week and again she said keep him on the same medication and wait an see, if this does not work they can try 1 more medication with the one i am on, if that does not work there is nothing they can do for him. Now i know i am ahead of myself and the medications might work but for her to tell me if it does not that there is nothing they can do.... its just has left me in bits and i am really worrying :( So back to tonight, i was sat on the couch and bailey was asleep next to me (he fits only when he is asleep) next min i see him bareing his teeth and like his jaw was being held open, his mouth got wider and wider and i was callin his name. Then i knew he was about to have a fit and i know they only last a min and when he comes round he is very aggressive as he is confused and upset. So the moment i knew what was going on i walked into the kitchen and shut the baby gate, i was crying this was the worst fit i had seen him have. He rolled on his back and fell off the couch onto his neck, i screamed i really thought that was it he's broke his neck, but he carried on fitting i went to open the gate and see if he was ok and he started to come round so i shut it again. Which i'm glad i did as he got very aggressive everytime i moved or said his name, as he was very scared. When he came round fully i opend the gate and he ran to me waggin his tail like to say 'hey i know you' ... its braking my heart i cant carry on like this its like no one understands how horrible this is having my baby fit and get aggressive with me. I've just left my partner and moved into a flat of my own, i cant lose bailey as well and i am so scared i am going to. My vet is crap and doing nothing for him and there is no other vet near me as i live in a small town miles from anywhere. He is my rock my soul mate my friend i dont want to lose my baby. I'm just so upset he's all i have! |
I am so sorry! It sounds to me like he might be having seizures. Is that what they have him on medication for? My friend's daughter has a Yorkie that has seizures. She has been on medication for years for it. They think that she got overloaded with too many vaccinations at one time for her small body that caused her to start seizing and she has had issues with seizures ever since. |
I see no other vets close by, how close is the next nearest vet? |
I'm so sorry for you to go through this. Have you thought of seeing a different vet? It sounds like epilepsy. There are different kinds in dogs and are treated differently. I'd get a second opinion. |
I know how scary seizures are (if that is what he is having) - my Toby had them too but he did not get aggressive afterwards. I would definitely get him to another vet. Do you know anyone that can give you a reference for a reputable vet?? :( |
The next vet is over 40miles away. yes he is on medication for the seizures/fits but it aint working. Ugh am just so upset at how it all happened and how horrible it was, and the fact i thought he had broke his neck. I cant stop shaking i thought his mouth was going to be pulled apart it was that wide. ugh its horrible i dunno what to do |

You might try posting in either the Sick/Injured or the Health forums...hopefully someone can give you some direction. I know how terribly scary it is....try to stay calm for his sake though. |

Even if the nearest vet is a couple of hours away you may just have to invest in the drive to save your Bailey. I would start calling around and get him in as quickly as possible. This can't wait......I hope you get the proper help Bailey needs and soon.....Good luck...... |
i agree with the last poster, from your other posts it is obvious you love you baby, please make the drive,it is worth it |
Please visit this website: Canine epilepsy and diseases that cause seizures in dogs There is so much information there and links you can click on that take you from one page to another...it's a great site. Seizures can be caused from so many things, not just epilepsy...please take the time to check out the site and read some of the information there...you might find something that helps your Bailey. Good luck... |
Your poor baby! PLEASE take him to a different Vet. The one you have stinks! If you want to save your baby....do it. I live 60 miles from the nearest vet. It's just priorities. Bailey is definitely a priority. Seizures can be controlled. It's just a matter of finding the right med. CHANGE VETS! DO IT!:( |
I'm so sorry you and Bailey are going through this. It sounds just awful, and so scary! I have to agree with the others... Do a little research, call the nearest vets - even if they are 40 miles or more, explain the situation, and go to the closest one that gives you a good response. Also, I hope the links the other poster gave you will be helpful. Good luck, and please keep us updated! |

It sounds very scary. i am glad that he does bounce back , but, gosh, their has to be some kind of something to help this little guy . |
