I want to thank all of you wonderful people who responded with such incourageing words, thoughts and prayers. Please keep praying for Toby, it means everything to me and to him. Now for some good news! When I went to visit Toby this afternoon my vet agreed to let me take him home! At least for the weekend. She said he seems to respond better to myself and my daughter and she thought it might help him a lot to be home. I am thrilled to say I am sure I am seeing an improvment, maybe my imagination but I swear he seems to be happier. He is eating for me really well...I have to squirt liquid food into his mouth with a syringe but he is swallowing really well and he has been more active...once he actually got himself to his feet alone and took a step and sort of crawled (as best he could) into my daughters lap...it wasn't pretty or graceful but he knew she was there and he wanted closer. I've let the girls in to visit him several times and they are so good around him and he really appears to try to perk up when they are sniffing around him. Hes peeing and pooping and I have never been so glad to clean up pee and poop in my life! Wish us luck... we WILL get through this!!! When I read your post I stopped and immediately prayed for Toby. I am so happy that you are able to have him home already. God is great, remember to Thank Him , keep your faith strong. This truly is a miracle that Toby is showing such signs of recovery.

Although it is good that Toby be close by you, please remember to see to it that he gets "Lots" of rest. I would hold off trying to get him to stand or walk too much. He needs every bit of energy to heal. Sleep is the best thing for a brain injury to heal. Be sure the others don't get him too excited. If he gets exhausted it could be dangerous for him. Lots of soothing , loving words, and You have all of our prayers coming to you and Toby.

These are SERIOUSLY GREAT SIGNS!!!!!!!!! The brain is a truly miraculous thing!! As a nurse, I've been around head injuries - and I can tell you these are just excellent signs to be seeing already. I am really hopeful for your little Toby and am so happy he is with you. This is really encouraging!

Thank you for the update, I've been thinking about this little fella!

I am so very sorry that Toby has this terrible accident - I will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Yorkies have a will and a spirit that is unbelieveable. It sounds like Toby has made up his mind to pull through - it may take some time. Believe in him and visit him when you can - let him feel your touch, smell your smell, and hear your voice - knowing that you are there will give him encouragement to stay strong and get well.

Toby definatly IS improveing. He took 3 syringes full at 5:30 this morning and then another 3 syringes at 8:30. After he ate I moving his legs and helping him stand and he walked! I mean that brave, wonderful, sweet boy took 3 steps with all four legs! He is weak in his hind end but all I had to do to help him was put my hands on each side of him to help balance and he took the iniative to walk forward on his own! He is weaker on his left side than his right but I think that makes sense as the kick was to the right/center part of his head, so I figure its like a stroke and the right part of the brain recived damage which weakened the left side of the body....does anybody know if I'm right? Tobe had his eyes open while he was walking and he was "with me", he knew what was going on, I'm sure he did. Oh yeah! The vet put fluid under his skin yesterday and she said that would keep him hydrated until Monday when I bring him back to see her, but this morning after the stroll he was panting...makes sense, that was hard work, and he was licking his lips so I got a bowl of water and helped him get his muzzle to it and he took several laps. I really don't know if he was lapping on purpose or just licking his lips and got some water but he definately took water...thats good too right? Again thank you all so much, this miracle is due I think as much to you and your prayers and positive thoughts as it is to the vet or myself. PLEASE keep sending the prayers and posititive thoughts. My baby is going to live!
PS Toby is taking a much deserved nap right now and I'm crying again...tears of joy this time!

What a terrible, horribly scary thing you all have had to go through.
Toby is lucky to have you, and I just know that he will recover from this.
