No- I don't think we do- but Skippy has a nervous stomach or something. At times he doesn't eat or has diarrhea and it goes away on it's own after a few days. This happened last year and once this yr. The vet checked his pancreas but it's okay. Does the vet think your dog can take meds and be okay?

I am so sorry your pup is not doing well. He will be in our thoughts that Monday brings more positive results.

Oh, gosh! I'm so sorry! Is it both kidneys then, or just one? PLEASE keep us posted and know that I'm thinking of you.

Cry

Oh honey...I'm crying right along with you. We lost our dear Roscoe (8 years old) of Kidney failure on June 12. Actually, we made the decision to assist his death along.

Roscoe stopped eating. His tongue (the tip) started to turn white. The bloodwork came back and his creatine levels were off the charts. There was no way to reverse the process. He had no energy, not even his tail would wag. His eyes told me that it was time for me to assist him and I did. Our furbabies do tell us when it is time - it is sometimes missed because of our own emotions that get tied up.

*wiping tears*

Hang in there and if you want to contact me directly, please do.

I'm so sorry to read about this
I know of a dog recently from another group that was in kidney failure with numbers around 177...They put her on iv fluids to flush the kidneys and her BUN came back down to 35, I believe. I'll say a prayer for Cooper. Azodyl and Epatikin are used in dogs with kidney problems/failure.

I am so sorry to hear this about your little Copper. I had a Peke w/ mild kidney failure, but she was older (13 when first diagnosed) it did progressively get worse as she got older...our choices to push to prolong her life or not was much different.
I have never had experience with this situation with a dog as young, so the situation is quite different. I know that she was on medication and a special, expensive perscription diet...
I'm not really sure what options you have but I wish you the best and my thoughts and prayers are with you and Copper.

I am so sorry. I have never heard of a dog so young with kidney failure. How tragic.

I am so sorry. My little Dixie (RIP) had to be out to sleep in January from congenital kidney failure. She was 6 months old when I got her from the breeder and I noticed that her pee was clear and no odor otherwise she seemed fine. After a month I took her in just because I thought it was starnge and I am a worry wart. The vet did a urinalysis and said it was not normal and he wanted to do BUN and Creatin. He called an hour later and said her Bun level was so high it didn't register on their machine and that she was in kidney failure and nothing could be done. I asked for a referral to a specialist as I couldn't believe there was no hope. The nephrologist did a lot of exoensive tests and said he felt he could keep her going with some meds and fluids. So we started her on her meds on a Saturday and by Monday she was barely alive. I called and he said stop the meds and bring her in on Thursday. She was so bad by then she couldn't lift her head and the odor from the uremic posioning was so strong I had to sleep with a prefumed cloth as I couldn't not let her on the bed. Sadly when I took her in her Bun was near 500 and nothing we could do but let her go. Her problem was her kidneys never developed. The specialist told me that he had many Yorkies in his practice that were doing great with treatment and many had been in his care for years. I am praying your baby can be helped. There is a lot they can do now for them. Dixie just didn't have a chance due ot her kidney's never developing.

I am very sorry your Yorkie is so ill. I hope someone can help her, and at least ease her suffering.

Default kidneys

Yes, Lorraine and I had a girl go into kidney failure, she rallied enough to go home..and Lorraine prepared for teh worse... She perked up in about a week, acted normal..had tests redone and her kidney's are functioning perfectly...now spayed and living a happy pet life..I wish the same recovery for your boy..

PS..vet still has no clue why she went into kidney failure and why she recovered.
