![]() So, do I have this right? Had vomiting and diarrhea. Bile acid test was done as a precaution and came back high. What were the results? Now waiting and hoping they will come down. CBC normal. Was a urinalysis done? Did I get that right? I don't think SNAP bile acid testing is recommended. And if the bile acids are up at all with other symptoms that need diet or meds to control, I wouldn't just let it go personally. I prefer to give support to the liver if any problem is suspected.

| ![]() I haven't had a chance to read all the posts (i'm at work). Just wanted to let you know my lil Romeo would throw up foamy, sometime yelliw liquids and it was usually in the morning. Overtime I realized it happened only when he didn't eat enough of his food. I'm not sure if this is true for you but just thougt I throw it out there... He's one of those puppies who would rather play than eat and I still have to hand feed him sometimes. I also make sure he eats sometime at night. He hasn't thrown up in months. So maybe make sure she eats enough since from your post it sounds like she's also throwing up on an empty stomach. Good luck to you and keep us updated. I hope this helps....

Urinalysis was done and they found a little microscopic blood. The vet said she could have had an infection, since she was peeing quite often around the time I had that test run...but her peeing has returned to normal. Yes, CBC came back normal. The only number for her bile that I was given was 48. So, I'm guessing that was the post number. I had the regular bile acid test run by a second vet....and yesterday's "snap" test was with my normal vet who called and told me that they were still slightly elevated.

| ![]() I was just thinking that you might want to read about the Colloidal Silver. I wrote a post on it here. It has No contraindications with other medications, It has worked miraculously for so many stomach ailments, attacking bacteria and virus. My son had colitis and after taking the Silver for one month he has not had another problem. So often the continued vomiting is like a vicious circle. they may vomit for a number of (non serious reasons), however, the vomiting itself causes sever stomach irritation, which then causes them to vomit more. I haven't been following this thread so I don't know if you already have any type of diagnosis,. I just thought I would tell you about the Silver. |

| ![]() If the bile acids are still up on a liver friendly protocol, I would either proceed with testing or keep her on Denosyl and a low/moderate protein diet for life. More testing would be good but pricey and with those numbers it is most likely MVD if anything. It could still be a shunt or something altogether different though, so I can't just say not to keep testing. A dog with bile acids of 48 needs liver support if it isn't coming down all the way in my opinion. You could retest in a month if the vet is confident that she isn't in danger.

I'm compiling a list of questions for the vet....seems like I have so many. Mayme is my first small dog...and inside dog at that. Most people tell me I'm just not use to them and shouldn't worry so much. However, I can't help it... I am keeping her on the low protein food, but I definately want to ask about some supplements etc. I'll ask about the denosyl..... I've been researching MVD and LS. From what I've gathered - MVD is treated with the diet/medicine, and life expectancy is fairly normal? Since ultrasounds are too effective - should I ask for the stintography next? I plan on taking her back for another bile acid test next month to keep an eye on things...

Throwing up so much is not normal and seems like some type of a warning sign... So you have a muncher on your hands! How cute! Then watch if she's eating something else besides food. Just a suggestion... Good luck getting to the bottom of this, we'll keep you and Daisy in our prayers ![]()

| ![]() She just threw up a little water...not sure what that means! The past two days I have started reducing her anti-vomit medicine from 3 x a day to 2x, but I don't think that was the cause. |
