Yep one of the last ones we had smelled like dead animal which i realized thats exactly what it is...but i thought the baking...processing...and other things they may/may not do would cut down on this odor. So who knows...Its all a nightmare to me now. I will cringe when i see these products ANYWHERE

Donating YT 30K Club Member | How scary. Thanks for the warning. Cali has been fighting a bacterial tummy infection on top of swallowing latex toy. The vet gave me enough meds to treat any of the others should they come down with it. I don't give them rawhide anymore but I bought these fish spine chews right before Cali took sick. I wonder if she could have gotten the bacterial inf from them. I am throwing them all out right now! Thanks and I hope both your babies get better real soon

Therapy Dog Donating Member | OMG, OMG Paula just saw this and I'm praying for our little Bella and Diggy. I hope that Bella gets better soon and you get to bring her home fast. Girl, I can't believe you posted this about the bully sticks. We had a bout with the runs with Izzy last weekend for 2-3 days and could not for the life of us figure out why. Nothing in her diet changed but she was chewing on her bully stick. I will have to take them away. I feel so bad for you and hope they get well soon.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Same here...no diet changes, not treat changes NOTHING finally after thinking hard and long about it I figured bully!!! Took them away and it still was in thier system enough to do all this damage. Omg I just still cannot get over how hard and fast it hit Bella....poor thing was so sick....couldnt even hold her head up in a matter of hours then she couldnt focus which was the onset of the shock. I keep thinking what if I didnt have a hospital a half hour away??? I think of the less fortuate that do not have anything near them like that what would have happened to her???? Ok freaking myself out again.....I have to stop what iffing....I drive myself nuts like that!

I give carrot but there is still a choking hazard. I think someone else on YT went through something similar. Their dog kept throwing up for no reason and they realized it was his/her chew bone.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | I already did.....sadly not much. I am looking into a food dehydrate to dehydrate some thick sweet potatoe slices and gonna do a lot of research before I ever give anything again.

| So scary! Thanks for sharing this. We were just talking the other day how we should get Punkin a bully stick, she loves them and hasn't had one in a long time. We are sooo not taking the chance now. I'm guessing the white rawhides would be dangerous too? |

| Paula, I am so sorry your babies went threw such a tramatic time and you as well. Thank heavens, after all that was done to them, they are both fine. I know how scary such a thing can be. I went threw pretty much the same thing with Buddy but his problem was the Nylabone. Same sympthoms and treatment. He was hospitalized for 4 days. Could not stop pooping blood and vomiting. He was so very weak. I thought he was going to die. I can't stress enough, DO NOT believe what is written on the packaging! DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ. THESE THINGS ARE NOT SAFE FOR YOUR PET. I am so happy for you that your babies are ok, now. Please give Diggy and Bella a hug for me and a kiss from their buddy, Buddy. If it's not natural it's not safe! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | PAULA, my gosh!!!! I am so sorry you and the babies went through this! I am so glad they are okay. I am going to do some learning, as you suggest, on clostridium, bc that is really beyond scary. Clearly, you could have lost a baby had it not been for your quick thinking and your close proximity - I can't believe how *fast* that stuff took Bella down. Wow. And, I didn't realize that it hid so well under scope. Unbelievable. I just have shivers down my spine thinking of all this. I am interested to hear what you learn of making your own treats w/ the dehydrator. So, did the vet have any thoughts as to when a dog has stool issues - what do we look for in terms of "normal diarrhea" (meaning, not dangerous) vs. "this could be from clostridium infestation" - is there *anything* specific to clue us in?

| How frightening for you!! I'm so glad you were so watchful and close to help! and surely hope they both fully recover quickly! we dont DO any of those smelly's,,, ,, no rawhide but for occasional C.E.T. HEXtra premium chews with Chlorhexidine and C.E.T. Enzymatick Oral Hygine Chews for Dgs and only petite in those and I break one little strip into 3 parts and give one to each doggie,, they love em,, and they are GONE shortly after getting them, no laying around on those! wonder what your vet would say about these?? as they are Vet recommended here Best of Luck,, so glad your babies are ok!
