| Very Concerned - what do you think this is? This really isnt about my yorkie babies... in a way it is.. but my husband has 2 dogs that he has had before we got married. They have been outside dogs all of their lives, and they have never ever seen a vet. (not my choice trust me!)... anyway, the one who is about nine years old now, has gotten extremely thin, and he still eats, he is very lethargic, and his eyes have a lot of gooey stuff coming out of them, and the one today looks like it is almost closing! What could that be??? I told my hubby he probably has cancer, but then I dont know about the eye thing. He wont take him to the vet because he doesnt want to spend money on him if he is dieing! Isnt this insane! Okay here is my concern, I have my 2 furbabies inside. They dont come in contact with the sick dog, and they have all their shots, but sometimes my husband would let the sick one come in the back yard (they have a run to themselves) where mine go potty! I'm just really concerned. The we also have a beautiful 2 year old daughter, who I WILL NOT let touch this sick dog, because I dont know what he has! Do any of you have an opinion on what it may be? THanks! |

| I agree with you totally! I am a stay at home mom with no income, so its husband's determination whether the dog goes or not. I have offered numerous times to take him, but its his call. |

Also, did you tell your hubby your concerns about your yorkies or child getting whatever he has? Maybe that would make him to this dog to the vet. Talk to your vet about whats going on, and maybe they can work something out with you financially, or book an appointment and find out the cost of just the office visit..maybe if you already get the appointment your hubby will go with it. If that all fails, you need to stand up for this dog to your hubby, what if it was one of your yorkies that was sick and he wouldn't give you money to get the proper treatment? Think of what you would do then, and do it! No animal diserves to be suffering like that. I hope all works out in the end, I know it's gotta be tough for you wanting to get the dog treatment but phsycially not being able to.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I agree 100%. It's not humane to stand by and watch this dog when you know it's suffering. Bite the bullet and take it to the vet...treat it or have it humanely put down. JMO

| My two furbabies have pet insurance and everything, because I know how much he hates to spend money at the vet. I wasnt going to take the chance with my dogs! I did tell him my concern about our daughter around the dog, and he says he doesnt let her touch him, and that my husband washes his hands after he pets him. Regardless, you all are totally right! This poor dog needs to be seen or pts. He isnt home yet from work, but I am going to tell him something needs to be done for the dog. |

| this is a living creature, i understand the stay at home mom thing and all that but there is no way i would allow a poor dog to just sit in my back yard dying/or sick (if thats what is happening). Also too putting your other dogs at risk. Parker just had diarreah the other day and I flipped.and took him to the vet..I would suggest you calling a shelter where they will take him in and give him the proper care he needs... I am not trying to come off mean or harsh I just couldn't imagine a poor baby being sick or in pain. Clearly he isn't healthy at all. |

If your hubby still refuses, I would take Parkers suggestion and take him to a shelter.

| I agree with the others here...I am also a stay at home mom. When one of the 5 furballs we have gets sick or needs medical attention I don't even ask I just do it. There should be no option in doing right by animals that he chose to have. Your their only hope stand firm and do what's right in your heart.

| I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this. I too would take him to the vet. Is there maybe one of those mobile vets that comes to parking lots. They are a lot cheaper.

| Did you know that animal cruelty charges can be filed against you and your husband if you don't get your dog medical attention? That is neglect. By law you must provide food, water, shelter, and medical care when needed...and by law your dog must be vaccinated against rabies. There are a LOT of things that could be wrong with the dog, especially if it has never been vaccinated. Not only do I feel terrible for the poor dog being neglected, but the dog may be a risk to you, your husband, your child, and your little dogs. He could have something contagious. I really hope your husband doesn't get any more dogs after these two are gone. What is the point of having a dog if you are just going to keep it outside and neglect it?
