| ![]() I'm going to bleach his blankets but they're both dirty so we have to buy him new ones. I bought him new water and food bowls. We threw away the cloth toys (except one... his favorite, I soaked it in bleach) and we bleached all of har toys. Everything he's around.. except the carpet and furniture, has been bleached. But we're not planning on bringing home a new puppy anytime soon so I'm not too incredibly worried about. Bleach unfortunately is the only thing that kills parvo. Any tips on what I should do to clean the furniture? I'm thinking about buying a spray bottle and keeping that on hand at all times but there are still some things that are not bleach safe like the couch... coffee table.. carpet..

| ![]() We're so glad Franklin is better and home. What an ordeal for all of you. Bleach is the only thing that I know of that kills parvo. It sounds as though you have gotten to everything. I don't think Franklin can get it again, though, can he? At least that is wht we were told about Tootsie. Give him a big hug from us. Janelles |

![]() I am not sure what color your carpets are but if they are a lighter color you can put bleach in the water in your carpet cleaner and do your carpets that way. I would test a small section with the diluted strength and see if it discolors it. I was told to do that by my vet when a dog I had gotten from the shelter was sick. It worked really well for me. As for the hard surfaces just use diluted bleach water for that also. I would use papertowels and then throw them away.

| ![]() Okay so I think that I've been asking the wrong questions. I think what I've been TRYING to ask is... If I'm not planning on bringing home another puppy anytime soon.... (in fact, not even a puppy. When we move, we plan on rescuing an older dog)... What is the purpose of disinfecting my house? Is it to prevent Franklin from getting it again? CAN he get it again? Or am I just preventing the virus from being spread to other dogs? I mean I'm still planning on disinfecting everything but I'm kind of just wondering why I'm doing all of this. Maybe if I knew why I'd have more conviction to do? ![]()

| ![]() Okay...My Vet told me there was only ONE thing that would rid the home of parvo. BLEACH!!!!! he told me to get a shovle and take the mess and burry it some place they won't go (a field, neighbors yard etc) because after it disolves in the ground it is 4-5 years before the virus is gone from your yard. He also told me that if a baby survives parvo they will have a lifelong immunity to the virus. just going by what my vet told me. hope it helps some.

| ![]() I would certainly take into consideration the people that might move into your apartment with a little dog...you would need to do it for them..if not Franklin
