| Hi everyone, I am so glad I found this website....I really need some help... My little 3yr. old female yorkie has just been diagnosed with Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia....I am so upset. White blood count was way down as was the plalets. The vet put her on Predison and an antibotic. White blood cells are finally up but plalets still down. Has anyone ever heard of this or experienced this. She could possible hemmorage internally at his point. Any info you may have will be a blessing. Thank you |

| Her name is Zoe (long e). What worrys me is with her platlets being so low , her blood is very very thin. I can't even sleep for researching all I can on the internet. She is the most precious, loving, adorable baby. I have been praying for her constantly. I will post a picture when I can figure out how. Thank you for you carrying. What was wrong with your little baby> |

| I love the name Zoe! I did the same thing when Jewel was sick. I spent hours and hours on the internet trying to find answers and doctors who can help. I sent countless emails to various Veterinary Universities to see if any doctors were doing research on her condition. I got several replies and one doctor became a conslutant between us and our vets. I also did research on how I can better understand her lab results and found the most wonderful site that explains the lab results in language I can understand. Things that the vet says it's normal or just glossed over really bothered me and because of this site, I feel I was able to discuss more in detail about my concerns with the vet and made it possible for me to adjust her meals and water intake to help her. If you don't have copies of the lab results get them from your vet - all of them and check from one test to the next to see where her levels are changing. Here is the link: http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/index.html

| I am so sorry to hear about your Zoe. I will say a prayer for her. Is she at the vet's or is she able to be home with you? I'm sorry I am not familiar with this disease - I just googled it so I would have some understanding. I pray you find the answers you need. Welcome to YT -- this is such a great place, with so many warm, loving people.

| Oh... Jewel... She had an exteremely rare infection located in her brain. The infection was killing off her brain cells. We were told from the time the doctors were able to eleminate all testable conditions and came to the conclusion that what she had is terminal. They gave her 2 weeks, she fought it out for 1 year and passed away just after her 3rd birthday. Believe me, these little guys are FIGHTERS! But they feed off our emotions. If you are sad around them, they know something is wrong. Dan and I always made sure not to cry in front of her. We always encouraged her and stayed happy around her. I feel from the bottom of our hearts, that is why she fought for her life for so long - she fought for us. We chose to use a combination of standard veterinary care and alternative herbal and holistic methods including accupuncture. Stay strong! Zoe will Fight for you too! Give her a Hug and Kisses from us.

| Thank you so much for the web site. I did view the 3 blood tests that she has had so far. I have seen the levels and how they have changed. I will go tomorrow and get copies of all of them. He told me this Disease was really not curable but could possible be put into remission and that they really do not know the cause of this. Poor baby, he told me if you had any kind of internal injury she could hemmorage. Thank you again for your kindness during this very difficult time; it really means alot to me. |

You are doing an amazing job in helping Zoe. What a lucky little girl she is to have such a loving and caring mom! (I'm assuming you're the mom and not the dad!)

| My baby has a rare disease too! I want to just lend you support for your little Zoe. I had a bad diagnosis this year with my little one Brooke, she has GME, Granulamatous Meningioenchephalitis, I think that is what Corinne's Jewel had too. I know at first you are just devastated by the news. And then when you look on the internet the prognosis is usually dark but my vets have said that my positive attitude and refusal to lose my baby has kept her going through some very dark times. Your Zoe can feel you, keep your thoughts positive and try and treat her as if she is normal. Whisper positive thoughts into her ear. Cry when you are alone and not with her. My Brooke had a stroke and couldn't even hold her head up, she couldn't stand or walk and she pooped and peed all over herself. Now just 8 weeks later with tender loving care, high quality food, acupuncture and prednisone she is running, jumping, climbing up and down stairs. She has the heart of a lion and your Zoe can too!! The connection you have with her is one of the most important tools to her recovery!! She doesn't know what disease she has, she will feel if you give up on her or feel sorry for her! I know my advice might seem California "touchie feelie", but I have seen how my attitude has affected my Brooke. And if my little girl doesn't go into remission, I can rest knowing that I did my best to make sure that Brooke had the best life possible in the time she had with me. Also, alot of info on the internet is old and overly pessimistic and new procedures or medicines have come about that could give Zoe a good life. I wish you and Zoe, nothing but the best. Stay Positive! |
