| Last time I was at the vet a lady came in with a bichon she found. She asked them to scan it, they came out with a wand and gave him the once over...no chip. She was going home to make fliers. Many people would prob. keep a found yorkie, but I want to do everything poss. to give me every chance to get my baby back, even a slight chance. It is very affordable to chip now. Doing it next week during Zoey's spay.

| All 3 of mine are microchipped, we only have one type here in the UK. They also wear tags, I see the microchip as the back up to the tag. If your dog is stolen then its easy for people to remove the tag but they can't remove the microchip, so if they ever take the dog to the vet or a rescue and it is scanned. You've got your dog back. |

| Avid Sophie was not chipped and when Charlie had his big dental, we included an Avid chip. If you think about all of the artificial joints, I wear a port-a-cath in my chest and still writing this message. For me, it is peace of mind because I don't always have his collar on (tags are on collar) when he wearing his harness. I keep the Avid ID number tag on his harness though. Double protection.

| Buster is microchipped with Home Again. For those that may be wondering if vets check for chips, YES they do. Whenever we get an animal in be it a cat, dog, ferret, etc that has been found as a stray or even older animals (over 6 mos of age) where the owner says "it was given to them" we scan for a chip. I know the humane league also scans and so do rescues. The rescues even chip the dogs before adopting them out. We have in the last 2 years found owners of lost pets through home again too.

| all 4 of mine are chipped. I don't think it makes much difference who the company is with just as long as they are chipped. if a scanner isn't the same as the chip it will at least let them know that there is one in there. I feel we need that extra security especially since this is a popular breed for theft. any one who takes my babies are going to pay in haydes.

Anyway...couldn't the person that stole her just take her tags off? You can't take a tattoo off as easy...and what if she ran away and the tags came off?
