| I don't like Shih Tzu, a lot of them have very bad smell...they are not smart at all. (on tests yorkies sooo much smarter than shih tzu). |

Well if she wants an intelligent breed, she should choose a Poodle or a Bichion Frise. Even though they're not intelligent, people still have them as pets..and continue to love them to pieces.

| The lists I found say..number one is a Border Collie and Poodles are 2.. Yorks are 27 and considered quite intelligent..I find them to be smart as can be.. very self-willed and hard-headed...a perfect match for me. LOL Health-wise, they are considered the hardiest of the toy breeds...I have seen this in pups. Pom and Maltese breeders tell me they can go to bed at night and all is well..get up and find a dead pup even into 8 to 12 weeks..something I do not find happens much in Yorks... |

| Why not? Well, anyway i belive in every breed there are very smart individuals and very stuped as well. best example is my airdale terrier. We got airdalle because we heard from many people they are the smartiest dogs (and i saw many of them...it was unviliblle how smart they are). But oiur girl isnot intelegent at all |

poor thing, but I have a Maltese and a Poodle..and they do things on their own without me telling them to. I love how they clean up after themselves. My Maltese has taught herself how to open the door! So saying that Malts are dumb..I think it's BS.

| I am a new yorkie mommy. I bought whiskey for my husband's birthday in may. He wanted a man's dog but when i saw her sweet face i fell in love. We also have a chihuahua and a daschund/rat terrier mix and i would have to say that they are the smartest dogs i have ever owned. Sweet Pea is my youngest daughter's doggie and she sleep with her every night and would guard us with her life. Harley is the mix and she belongs to my oldest daughter and she will do all kinds of tricks to have her belly rubbed-she is very intelligent and very sweet. What is sad is that my vet told me that Sweet Pea is getting cataracts. I bought her when my husband got sent to Iraq because we needed someone to snuggle on while he was fighting in Iraq. I'm just rambling on but just thought i would let you know that those types of dogs are very loyal and loving. |

To everstgirl(sp?) The kind of qualities i like in a dog, are good temperment, socialable, inquisitvie and fairly intelligent (basically a yorkie then ) lol |
