Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Friends teasing your dog Every time I take Eddie to work, one joker or another will think it's funny to tease him with the old pretend-to-throw-the-toy trick or by making him spin nonstop. I don't think those things are funny. I spend too much time trying to train him to trust me that I don't like tricking him. Am I being paranoid or am I right to abruptly tell them to knock it the heck off?

| My boyfriend will pretend to throw something and after a while she gets what he's doing. It used to bother me but then I noticed how much fun she has with him, when they play, even if it seems like she's being teased. But chances are your boys are having fun getting the attention.

| Most of our friends are pretty good around Topher, but hubby has a cousin (whom we're very close to) who takes great joy in teasing him as much as he can. YES, you can tell this person to stop! I've done it before and will do it again if I have to. We had a terrier mix who passed away in January and cousin just loved to tease her, too. Even though we put a stop to it, I guess we didn't do it soon enough. It got to the point where the dog just didn't like him at all....he couldn't understand why (?) duh! I think it's our job to protect these little guys from being teased...they can't do it themselves. (btw...love the videos of your boys...they sure are cute!) |

| There is definitely a difference between teasing and playing and teasing is a HUGE no no with our babies! To play fetch and once in a while do a fake is ok, Jazzie actually loves it cuz she knows and will go after the "hidden" toy anyways. But to tease is just mean!

| I am with you. I want my dog to trust me and I don't like someone tricking her. My kids do it the most and they are always grounded when I catch them doing it. Some would say that is a harsh punishment for just playing with the dog but they know how I feel about it and have been told lots of times about it. I do not allow people to do it to my dog. Just my opinion. |

| I voted that there's nothing wrong with it, BUT there's a limit. I think Sully loves it when people play with him, and any sort of attention is fun to him, but it does become aggrivating to me when they TEASE him about being small and making comments like "dogs this small should come with football laces on their backs" etc. Even though these people might be nice as ever just with different senses of humor, it bugs me. As long as the person plays with Sully b/c they're genuinely interested in him - and not b/c they want to crack a joke, etc. it's ok with me. But it does upset me when people try to give Sully commands to do the tricks he does, when they don't know the correct hand signal nor do they have a treat in thier hand!!!

| I think it is mean. None of my friends/family do it. If they did, I would tell them to stop. Same goes for if they are playing too rough w/ him. |

| I fiancee's friends play lets act like we throw the ball and watch Rocky go after it and search for it. I get mad at them and tell the to cut it out because it is mean and Rocky is not here on this earth to entertain them. I think Rocky finally got fed up with it too because the other day one of my fiancee's friends went to play fetch with him and Rocky growled at him and walked away from him. I think Rocky was telling him to "Kiss off". |

| Oh, I had such problem with that in the beginning, bringing him to work, all the guys did this, and played rough with him, I used to scream " I don't want a MEAN, SCARED dog, STOP IT" finally I taught them... to leave him alone, if you can't play nice. Every now and then I still have to scold em around here.

| I think it's mean. My friends/family don't do it but if they did, you can be damn sure I'd tell them never to do it again.
