| Donating YT 14K Club Member | Here is a thread that one of our members had the courage to share with us. It's painful to read and heartbreaking. Pages 1-3 has the best information and it went downhill fast starting on page 4. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ght=breed+tiny

| I am sorry, but nothing can change my mind about this. I don't care how wide the tiny dog's hips are. To me breeding anything under 5 lbs is cruel. They still have to be able to support that extra weight and have room to grow. What if they end up having 5 pups as well. IF you love your dog, thier life is too much to risk. I'm sorry, but anyone who breeds them are selling their dog out and don't have it's best intrests in mind. I firmly believe in this. And I know that a person here on this thread was breeding a 3 1/4 lb female. I consider that close enough to 3 lbs. Unfortunately I'm afraid we'll still see more of this since people don't know to steer clear of these kinds of breeders and want a "guaranteed" tiny. Which doesn't exist I might add. Happy holidays everyone. |

| I voted yes because Kricket at 2 yrs old was just a hair under 5 pounds. Now she's over. I don't consider her a tiny either. I think the range you put is not accurate cosidering you breed less than 4 pounds if I recall correctly. If not, I stand corrected. I would NEVER breed something that's 4.5 pounds or less. If I did breed something 4.75 pounds again it would be at the discretion of my vet. Mercy!!! Irene |

| Where do chihuahuas come from? Think about it. That's all I have to say.

| I love that the definition of tiny keeps getting bigger. I thought we were worried about under 4lbs.? |

| It is all either our opinion or for some it has become an actual FACT, Small yorkies should not be bred. Even the almighty Joan B. Gordon has said "Don't breed tiny yorkies" Who really knows for sure if your tiny will be one of the many who will have a problem. So if you are willing to possibly lose your dog, go ahead breed that tiny!! You will only find out if it was a good choice when its time to give birth.

| Most of my breeding females are 5-7 lbs.. My Trianna is the exception to that, she weigh 4.6 lbs.. She will be two this coming March and I will breed her after that.. I always have complete examines done on all my yorkies.. Trianna might be on the smaller side, but she has a wider pelvic opening then two of my 6 1/2 lb. girls! Trianna comes from excellent free whelping lines and I do not believe there will be a problem, if I did I would NEVER breed her.. I personally do NOT believe a female under 4 lbs. should ever be bred for any reason! If a breeder does their homework and they know the lines they are breeding and they are NOT breeding for tinies, that is not what I refer to as someone being irresponsible with a dogs life.. It is the breeders that are breeding for tiny so called teacup, toys or minis that are being irresponsible! WHENEVER someone breeds a dog they are taking that dogs life into their own hands and I do NOT care what the size of the dog is! There have been many yorkie breeders with female over 5-6 lbs. and they also have been devasted by the end result! I always tell everyone NEVER purchase a yorkie from someone that advertises or refers to their dogs/puppies as teacups, toys or minis! It all goes back to being educated and making the proper choices for your dog and NOT your bank account! Melanie |
