I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | You don't let her go free. When she is out of the pen she should be watched with both eyes on her, if she displays any circling type of behavior or sniffing around that could indicate she wants to go place her on a pad. Puppies can find the pad in a pen because it's just a step or so away from them at any time, but in a big room they aren't going to seek out a pad, and if your room is carpet, they think the whole thing is a pad. You will need to clean up all the mistakes with an enzyme cleaner that gets rid of the protein in urine, otherwise she will continue to seek out those same spots and urinate there. When removing her from the crate, place her directly on a pad, and praise her for going pee on the pad.

Yorkie Talker | Hi! My puppy is 14 weeks & he has mastered potty... The key is patience & be strict when he/she does not do thier business where thier suppose to.. For my Harley I have 1 pee pad in the restroom & another in the kitchen, so he knows he suppose to do his business either place. When he wasn't I would take him where he did his business & tell him NO! & when he did a good job I praised him saying "GOOD BOY & GIVING HIM A KONG FILLED WITH A LITTLE KONG STUFF'N. He loves that stuff! * |

| I agree. You have to watch them at all times when they are out of their pen / crate. I crate my Abby only at night and when no one is home. When she is out, we have to watch her body language to know when she has to go out. She runs around like a mad woman when she has to go out. She will run quickly to us then run back and then back to us again. So we know that she has to go out. I always have an eye on her when she is not in her crate. |

| Here is what I did We bought two yorkies at the same time. We started them in side a pen made with baby gates. The only room was for the play area, pee pad, eating area, and the bed. We kept making the pen bigger and bigger so they had to walk to the pee pad. When we started letting them out we would make sure that they had just went potty then watched them like a hawk until they started to circle then took them back to pad. When they started to go back to the pad by them selves we extended to time out of the pen. We always kept our eyes on them when they were out. Each time they went on the floor we back tracked to where we were before. It took a long time to trust them. They really like to have a clean pad. when they get two pee's on the pad I put down a new one. Good luck. It'll be worth it, and don't forget you are the boss. |

| You got great advice already......so I won't add to that....however you need to keep in mind that yorkies CAN be very difficult to potty train and it CAN take a LONG time.....Daizy is 15 months old and we have very few accidents anymore...she has FINALLY learned to ask to be let out....now my Tulip is almost 7 months old and will ALWAYS go out if I ask her...however if I don't anticipate that she has to potty she will have an accident...so we're STILL working on it...and hoping that someday soon she will learn to ask....on the positive this morning she kept licking me and licking me....while I was sleeping.....so I woke up enough to ask her if she had to go "potty"...and she about FLEW off of our bed...so it looks like she's trying to learn how to tell me that she has to go!!! YAY!!!! I started using baby onesies...and finally I bought yorkie panties...to prevent anymore urine accidents on my carpet....but I don't use them as diapers...I still take them out ALOT and hope for dry panties...so far so good!!! good luck!
