| Everyone is different as to what they are offended by. How is one supposed to know that? Just FYI I get hurt feelings too but do I inform everyone by using words like hateful, mean, rude, intolerant, etc.? Sure one may be willing to take responsibility for their words, but are they willing to be called all those names? If not then the truth is squelched.

. I agree, 100% that you can't control how someone "takes" what you say, however you can take the responsibility for hurting a fellow member and apologize.1) I have the right to speak my mind and if it hurts others it doesn't matter. 2) I have the right to speak my mind, but I also bear the responsibility of how my words affect others. | |

| I think its very difficult to judge what is rude and what is not just by reading a post . Sometimes peoples say very logical things but peoples often believe it is rude . |

| That is so true! I am a very matter of fact type of person and have gone back and read some of my own posts that maybe someone could consider rude and I definitely didnt mean it that way. Ive been trying to change my posting style though

| Okay, I voted but your poll did not have enough options IMO. Because I didn't feel either way was the entire story. Why should I apologize to someone who has just been informed that she is doing something wrong in a very nice way and is offended when she is told that? Not fair.

| I just sent you a pm and I was getting ready to post an apology publicly. I am very very sorry that I hurt your feelings. The poll was generic, not specific about whether each of us feels that we should be responsible and accountable for our words, both typed and spoken. | Accepted. I actually do not have hurt feeling. That comment was referring to the educating members who have been called all sorts of things and may possibly have hurt feelings about that. We do live in the U.S. were we are allowed to have a difference of opinion. Have a good day. Joanne

| 2) I have the right to speak my mind, but I also bear the responsibility of how my words affect others. Is my vote. I was raised that If I had nothing nice to say then I should not say anything at all. I don't like my feelings to be hurt so I would not intentionally hurt others by cruel words. I do have the right to speak, yes of course I do, BUT with those rights should follow respect. Just because I DISagree with someone, does not give me the right to DISrespect them even though I have the right to speak my mind. Along with rights should come responsibility and respect. Kind of the 3 R's |

| I have only been on here a few months, but I have to say on 2 different occasions I was tempted to leave this site because of a FEW rude posters. What stoped me was the MANY good, kind, thoughtful people on this site. They more then made up for the few that are not always careful in choosing the words they use to get there message across. I always proof read my message ,sometimes I feel the need to change a word or 2 just to give a sentence a whole different meaning... |
