| I use stainless bowls and wash the water bowl two to three times a day and rinse in super hot water with a tiny bit of bleach added. I home cook so their bowls are washed after each meal and also sanitized. Dogs have a lot of protien in their saliva that will get on the bowls including the water bowl. Have you ever felt inside the food & water bowl when it's empty? It's slimy. If not washed often it can actually lead to gum problems since it can breed germs. |

| I use ceramic bowls. I have stainless steel bowls for travel. My dog's bowls are washed after every meal, just as we do for every member of the family. |

| I use ceramic bowls for food and water. The food bowls get washed (hot, soapy water) after each meal. The water bowl gets washed each evening after I take their water away and I let it air dry.

| I wash his stainless water bowl once a day and his ceramic food bowl after each meal. I use hot soapy water for his ceramic bowl to make sure its really clean. He eats homecooked food and canned.

| We use ceramics bowls - wash the water bowls *"constantly" - dry kibble food bowls "daily" - wet food plates after "each use". I use hot sudsy water "daily" and wash in the dish washer "weekly". *There is no way I could let my babies water bowls go one whole day. I never know what I'm going to find in there! And maybe it's because we live in the desert but they both drink alot of water, so I clean it with each fill.

| I rinse out each water bowl 1-2 times daily when I fill it (we have one upstairs and one down), and they get run through a sanitize cycle in the dishwasher every 2-3 days. Their dishes I wash once daily, since I feed raw meat.

| Toto eats her morning wet food from a glass bowl which goes directly into the dishwasher. I keep stainless water bowls in the kitchen & bedroom and I clean them once daily or more than once if it doesn't look like water I would drink!! She is pretty "anal" about her water and lets me know if it's not "acceptable"!! She gets dry kibble [about 1 T.] twice a day and for this I use a small Dixie bowl and then just throw it away. I just can't stand it if her eating/drinking "utensils" aren't clean and germ free!

| Freeze dried freeze dried.jpg I wash them every 2 days and they use ceramic bowls. They drink out of a water bottle so when it gets empty I rinse it.

| I didn't used to wash their dishes after ever meal and found that Tahoe and Johnny Cash kept getting bacterial infections and bad diarrhea. Eventually it occurred to me that it might be caused by dirty dishes. I haven't had a problem with the bacterial infections since I started washing the dishes after every meal. I got tired of washing every dish twice a day so now (and no this isn't very green) I feed them in disposable dishes and throw them away after every meal.
