| Mayo vs Miracle Whip, what kind of gal are you? Ok, so yes I am THIS lame. Please let me know why you love or hate mayo. I really can't understand why people hate it. Please enlighten me. This was my post from the chicken salad sandwich thread (I took the liberty of correcting some typos): Quote:

| I was raised on Miracle Whip, but when I grew up I switched to Mayonaise. Now, MW makes me gag!

| I will answer my own question first. I hate that Miracle whip is kinda sour. I love how mayo is rich and creamy and slightly salty. I do not like low fat mayo bc it does not taste like the real thing, and if I use the "fake" stuff, I should just not use it at all bc it doesn't do a good job of being mayo enough. Low fat salad dressing on the other hand, I love. I also don't like sandwich spread in the jar. I tried to make myself like it, purely for the reason it was lower in fat than mayo (Is this why people like MW and lowfat mayo?). I don't like the taste. Esp the sweet pickle relish in there. Full fat mayo is fatty bc it tastes so good. Anything in moderation is fine. Even deep fried chicken skin. Please someone join me in my insanity. Lisa, I know you got my back right?

| The taste. Miracle Whip is tangy and I like the taste. Mayo is rich and has that fatty quality to it that makes me want to throw up. I also can't drink 2% milk or anything above it. Yuck. The flavor of Mayo just isn't good. When I ate meat, it was the light meat. I don't like fat marbled in my meat. I like it dry. No skin is yucky.

MW - 0 Please elaborate! Was your mom a health nut? What brand of mayo do you use? I think I like naughty foods so much bc my mom was kinda a health nut. Bc she has high blood pressure, she cooked healthy only and low sodium. Needless to say I didn't like her cooking. Maybe that's why I love salt so much. My lil bro and I used to hide in the closet with the salt shaker and shake salt into our palms and throw in in our mouths. There is a chinese sausage called "lap cheong" Chinese sausage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It's common in authentic fried rice and other dishes. My mom would slice them and spend hours upon hours poking out the fat chunks. We ended up with swiss cheese looking sausages slices. Maybe that's why I love fat so much.

I agree I don't like 2% or whole milk. But then again I don't drink much milk, so.... Now may I ask you, did you grow up eating MW and white meat without the skin? Why do you like meat dry? One of my cousins is a vegetarian. I believe that she has an eating disorder, and stopped eating meat bc of it's fat content (she wears fur btw. Plus she eats stuff that isn't all that healthy but is vegetarian.) She doesn't eat egg yolks bc that's where all the fat is, all 5g of it. What about other sauces that have oil and yolk emulsions? Hollandaise (YUM!!!) Bernaise? Aioli/remoulade? <---SO good with fried shrimp!

| I grew up on MW and there were no health nuts in the house then. At my old job they had condiments & only carried mayo, so I had to use it, can't have a dry turkey sandwich. I had to get used to it & now I love it. I've tried MW at my parents since & can't do it. It does taste kind of tangy, & for me it's a horrible taste. Ellie May, you made me think of something about the milk-I switched from whole to 2% long ago & have tried to switch my mom. She says 2% is terrible, etc. Well my sis gave her a taste test a while back & she picked 2% as whole. Kinda thought that was (really) funny-I wonder if I'd pass as I hate Vit. D now.

| Best food mayo, yum!!!!!!! I don't put globs of it on my sandwich. A nice thin layer is enough to give me the flavor without it spewing on the sides. My mom is a health nut, and she didn't allow us to have many things at home. Mayo was on that list. When we did have it, it was best foods. I've never tried miracle whip.

| Mayonnaise all the way...yum yum. I don't like the sweet tangy taste of Miracle Whip. I am weird I don't like foods to have a sweet taste (hate sweet and sour) unless it is dessert. I like sweet foods just not for the main meal. If something has a sweet taste I eat it last like a dessert. I also can't stand for my foods to touch on my plate or juices from one food to run into another....told you I am weird

| My family loves Kraft [Original] Mayo ... except Abbi, our 8 yr. old granddaughter. She hates anything even similar to Mayo. I, too, hate anything with fat in it, high fat milk ... and I am not a sweet lover. Once in a "blue moon" I will eat something sweet. I don't like fried foods either. But, I just have to have Kraft Mayo ... or simply use spicy mustard!

I use Duke's Mayo only. If I want to cut the fat I cut it with homemade lowfat or Greek yogurt. All of the flavor less fat
